Suspension and steering help?
I know alot about engines, but dont know jack about transmissions or suspension/steering. My si will clunk when i hit bumps and when I turn. Not sure what to look at or replace because I don't know anything about suspension. The previous owner had it on lowering springs and had it tucked, so with my cv's being at such an extreme angle, i'm almost positive my cv's are shot, but not positive... I did notice that the boot on my ball joint is ripped, but do not know the extent of the damage... I do have a skunk2 pro series camber kit on the front, and if I had my choice, I would replace it with oem upper arms and bushings. What im asking is, is what components should I inspect and what should I look for? My alignment is out because of the previous owner putting the stock springs back on it, so i'm trying to fix all these issues before I pay for the alignment... Thanks... it's a 99 em1 with b16a2.
I would say try inspecting the bushings on top of the springs. And if ur balljoints look bad, replace em. Its better now than later. I would also suggest checking your front lca bushings. and dam while ur at it, your tie rod ends. Because that will all be inspected when u get an alignment. And if its a good alignment shop, they wont do the alignment unless its fixed.
Anyone wanna trade their upper arms for my skunk 2 pro camber kit? haha. Friend told me camber kits are not what they're made out to be and with an alignment, it would just get thrown back out...
