Default 00 civic si leaking problem????

I have a 2000 civic si with a b16a2 and I recently cracked my differential so I bought another transmission and put it in but for some reason it leaks where the halfshaft goes into the trans. I changed the halfshaft and axle seal but its leaking alot still and the trans looks fine idk wat it can be. The seal is from oreillys so idk if thats the problem. I also began to leak coolant and it looks like if its coming out from the headgasket and is there a way to check dont want coolant and oil mixing and no white smoke or milk forming in the oil yet???? I need help

I'm guessing it's leaking from the passenger side? Did you buy the axle from Kragen too? I bought one of their cheap remanufactured axle and it was leaking like crazy from the same place as well. I took it off and bought one that was new and didn't require a core, it was a little more expensive. No issues of leaking after installing the replacement one.

In regards to your coolant leak, where is it coming from?

The trans leak is from the driver side and im going to try to a honda seal but if its still leaking could it be the trans? it looks fine and the coolant leak I really dont know i get a build up of coolant by the headgasket under the vtec solenoid so i was thinking its the headgasket but im not sure. is there a way to check where its coming from?

Hmm, the driver side only has an itermediate shaft that goes into the transmission. Did you install the seal correctly? I've heard those seals are hard to install right. Was the seal damaged during reinstallation of the intermediate shaft?

Have no clue about the coolant leak. Check all the hoses make sure nothing is leaking. I don't think there should be any coolant around that area.

The leak sounds like it could be dripping from the heater hose going into the head. And as for the tranny seal, you didnt put the seal ALL the way in right? Its only supposed to clear the lip so its flush wit the metal surrounding, its not supposed to go in all the way.

well i didnt jam the seal in or nothing like that i only left it on the outer rim then put the intermediate shaft in to get it stuck and would a bad headgasket cause a coolant leak?

Oh alright just makin sure cuz ive seen ppl put em all the way in and end up blowing their differentials cuz it leaked soo much. And you didnt bed the seal or anything when installing? Cuz those things are delicate.

Yes a head gasket may cause it. But im not too sure. Usually i see oil leaking from there. Try cleaning it off, and watching it with the car on and see where it comes from?

i dont think i damged the seal when i put it in but ill try a honda seal again this weekend and i think thats how i broke my lastdifferential it was leaking alot and i didnt notice it and ill check the coolant this weekend also. would it be easier to put the seal on the intermediate shaft first then put the whole shaft in???

Noooo, cuz sometimes the intermediate dont seat all the way, so if you put it on, it could not seal all the way and the leak will be worse.Just put it in by hand first.
And yes, get a honda seal. Honda parts are always a little more, but well worth it in the end.
And if you still cant pinpoint the leak, you can try and do a radiator compression check? idk exactly what its called, but you put it over where the radiator cap goes, pressure the cooling system, and you can pinpoint your leak.

Check your front rad hose. I had the same issue and rad fluid was barely leaking down, past the the boss, and down against the head/block lip (under the dizzy) and collecting underneath the VTEC solenoid.

Its simple just do leak down test with with pressure gauge, I had same problem. Also it could be from pipe to water pump there is two hose under the manifold but you have to remove manifold and replace both hoses cuz it will give easy access to get to it.

i say do a compression/leak down test. Could be a bad head gasket?

Start the car without the radiator cap on, let it run and see if the coolant starts to bubble at the cap. Compression test wont could lead you in the right direction with the head gasket but wont really tell you for sure. If you have low compression, chances are it more ring related not so much the head gasket

It means there is air in the system. Could have done the compression test by now.
