Am I a fool?
For even thinking about trading in my 07 tl type s 6speed manual for a mugen si? Honestly dont know if theyre even comparable to be in the same "league"
i like the mugen si because it would have better mpg than the tl, along with being more "sportier"
However, my tl is more "grown up" and somewhat more lluxurious.
Is it worth the move?

Yes you are. A mugen si is just a Fiji blue sedan with wheels and ground effects.affects..? It'll be a more "sportier" car to drive and tuning would be a blast. But you'd loose the maturity factor that the tl has, which is more important IMO.
Maybe I should change my tone. I just feel that the 8th civic is destined to be the new 5th gen civic, the new platform for hard core rice. Now since their still new its not that prevalent. But some 06-07's are dipping down in price and soon enough the masses will have them. Kinda like the s2k how early ap1's are in the 6-10k range.
As for gas mileage I got 28 city 32-33 highway when stock. I should get a hair more now the way its tuned, if I could keep my foot out of it.

Stick with the TL the newer Mugen is just a fancier looking civic with no better numbers than stock Si and the mileage sucks,a guy I know is only averaging 21 22 mpg and he is not getting on it all the time.
well you wanna save fuel huh? neither will be good. high reving Si isn't the best thing to think of with oil hovering around $108 a barrel. it will climb to $150 -$160 a barrel. if you want something new and flashy,.get the Si.. if you want a fast acura that jackers wouldn't want..keep your car. if you're to worried about gas..chop off your nutz and by a hybrid.
i vote Si. you only live once..are you getting any younger? no!

Civics are known to be a super-riced-out-to-the-max kind of car, regardless of the generation. Of course, there are some pretty nice non-riced Civics out there.
In my opinion, Civics are for leisure and fun, to fix up and whatnot. TL's, I find, are the more luxurious-businessman-professional-type of car. Id say stick with the TL.
The price tag on the Mugen SI is totally waaaaay too much.
Final verdict: stick with the TL.
doesnt the mugen si have suspension upgrades that are supposed to be pretty good? maybe im wrong. plus its a sexy lookin sedan imo, and any time u can make a compact sedan look that good, i'd take it. plus u have an opportunity to get one without paying the overpriced tag. i guess it comes down to whether u think ur a TL person or a civic person.
I think the Mugen is more of a collector item if you plan on keeping it. People will very likely be wanting to buy it and it still will look sexy 10 years from now.
Kind of like the Type-R DC2
Re-sale will also be killer.

The mugen SI has the same engine and tranny. It just has ground effects and a bit of a different suspension.
Because of that, it will never be anywhere close to where the dc2 Type-R was.
IMO - DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT IT!!
Especially looking at your location, think about where you're able to "park" your TL without really having to worrying about it. Then take a second to think about owning the Mugen :/
MPG probably isn't THAT much better, on paper sure....real life not so much.
My advice would be - keep the TL and pick up an older Gen civic to play with as a toy.

I say keep the TL. You've got the NSX for fun. The TL is such a better daily driver. Also as was mentioned, the Mugen is going to be a hot car for thieves too. I see the TL as a step up. If you want a more sporty/luxury car, look outside Honda/Acura. Unfortunately Honda isn't offering much in that category right now.
The Mugen is a great platform to make a truly impressive vehicle.
I just purchased a lightly used one and didn't pay over $18k for it.
It already has an incredible suspension, wheels, and exterior additions. Essentially I can focus on the engine, and brakes and have one awesome vehicle.
Also, only 1000 were made, take in to account accidents and thefts, and their may be around 970 left on the planet.
If you want a piece of automotive history, and respect the Mugen tuning by not ripping out the suspension and dumping it, then go for it.
I plan on loving this car as long as I possibly can, while making tasteful upgrades.

Why do people automatically spout off that there is no true increase in performance?
The suspension was completely re-worked, which translates to faster lap times.
If you simply plan on driving it on city streets, then yes, its likely not something you will benefit from all the time, but there is still a performance increase.
People who know racing understand that a properly tuned chasis is by far more important than sheer power numbers.
The chassis is the same as the normal si, only shocks/struts and springs are different. Plus how do you charge 10K over a stock si for wheels, exhaust, lip kit, shift ****...theres a reason ours sat on the lot for WELL over a year. If it was a TRUE type r or something then fine, but its not

price there pretty close but keep the 6 speed tl and boost it
