Icon6 EF Hatchback Manual Trasmission Fluid Help

Hello all, my clutch blew out on me a couple days ago, and I got a friend to install a new one (Since I am not mechanically savvy, and did not have enough $ to go to a shop). Well, the new one is installed, but I am not clear on how to put new transmission fluid in (it leaked out after removing the Axels). . . The manual says to put in Motor Oil, yet I am not sure if this is what I should do since people I know are telling me not to. Thought I could get the some advice on what Transmission Fluid to use, since there are extremely knowledgeable people on this car here.

Any help is greatly appreciated,

Thanks!

A lot of people say to use Honda Manual Transmission Fluid
Motor oil works just as well.
I believe I used 5w30, probably 10w30 though. Synthetic I believe.

Do you know how to fill it and drain it? It's less messy if you drain it before removing the axles... there are three different holes. Filling, draining, and inspection.

No I am not sure on how I go about draining the rest out (though I believe there is none left since it did not leak anything today when we finished mounting it), but I in the Manual it shows a diagram with a bolt on the left-side of the passenger-side Axle.

Thanks for the advice, I'm gonna pick up some Honda Manual Transmission fluid tomorrow!

Remove the passenger wheel and you will see the drain plug, and the inspection one. You have to use a ratchet to get them out, or a big robertson screw driver...

The fill plug is a little further up, and to the left. I had trouble finding it.

Fill it with a hose and a funnel, or a big syringe + tube.

Syringe is better because you can get the exact specific amount in.

Either way works though. I just filled it until it over-flowed a bit.

Good luck!

I always pulled the fill plug on the transmission and the reverse sensor in the top of the transmission. stuck a transmission funnel in the top hole for the sensor and had someone watch from the bottom and stick the plug back in when it poured out the side while filling it slowly from the top. It was so much easier than filling it through the side. I always use 10w-30 Engine oil in my transmissions.

Thanks for all the input guys. . . I was not successful in filling it up yet, because the bold on the side of the transmission will not bulge! Tried countless times without any luck. It's just causing damage to the bolt. I was told to spray some loosener on it for a while to see if it helps, so that's what I'm gonna do.

People have also told me to fill it from the top, but when my brother and I removed the speed sensor (I think that's what it's called), there is no hole where we could fill from.
