Default Lsd Transmission and Selector Question!!!

Ok so here's the deal i actually have two questions. I have an american non lsd gsr tranny with b16 3rd,4th and unkown 5th (b16 or 4.4 type r 5th if theres even a difference). First off i bought this tranny how it is and i was told it was completely stock, what i never understood is that the gears were shorter and 4th always engaged rough and eventually stopped working. We took it apart to replace parts and it turns out that the gears have been changed (score! :D). But my buddy who is rebuilding it said that the selector (slider) for 4th and 5th i think was still a gsr and has slight difference from the b16. We tested this theory by takin apart another friends type r tranny and his sliders worked perfect. Is it necessary to get the b16/type r selector or do they cross match? (My gsr selector was still usable by the way so rule out the thought that the gsr selector was just trashed).

Thats it for the first question.

Second question:
I'm ordering an lsd for the tranny while its apart but i keep hearing that the ring gear is different on certain trannys and need to get one to match. My question is, will the type r lsd fit universally to all oem trannys or will it not work on my gsr tranny. My thought was that they would match since all the trannys (b16, gsr and the 4.4 type r tranny) have a 4.4 final drive. If anyone can help thanks and i appreciate the feedback and leave out any retarded a$$ comments or remarks. (Searched and no luck btw)

The GSR and Type R ring gear is a little bigger than the LS and B16 ones in. I had a freind get a M-Factory LSD and the ring gear for a LS or B16 would not fit, Only a GSR or Type R. Also the FD(Ring Gear) has to match the Counter Shaft, usually you should use the shaft it came with. If they dont match the tranny will not spin.

if your refering to the syncro sleeve and hub they are all the same for b series its a p21 middle number for 1-2, 3-4, and 5-R hub and slider, they don't slide right or well becuase they are gauled a little bit they need to be replaced its about 600 total for all sets with syncros, hubs, sliders, rings, etc etc in the sets from majestic honda best price your going to get its essentially employee cost at a dealership cost +10% is what it is almost. excuse the shitty spelling its late.

edit: forgot the LSD info you wanted

a ITR lsd will fit a GSR trans as long as its 4.4 to 4.4 it will not work if its a 4.7 you will need a counter shaft with the money your going to spend on a type R unit i would just get an Mfactory or a quaife honestly.

Aight i got all the syncs and **** replaced cause we thought it was that and then we noticed the 4th locking ring looked like a pretzel at the bottom of the tranny and replaced it and the gear engaged but it would still spit it out back as soon as i let go of the clutch. So im guessin its just the slider for 3-4 and i just need to find a blown up tranny lol and take it apart :D thanks alot on that part you made it real clear for me on that.

For the lsd bit, i got a deal on a oem type r lsd that was in great condition with little use so i just wanna make sure it matches to my tranny, which is 4.4.
Thanks alot man and hopefully i can get back to bustin my times at the track again lmao, im on a stock gsr non lsd tranny that is so sluggish. I appreciate the info guys, thanks alot!
