Hi guys
Have any of you also experienced breakages on the MFactory PRO Synco gear set for B series
We have a Drag Car running:
Pro Syncro set
4.0 FD
26-10-15 Slicks
700 whp
Now this is the 3rd time we've broken 1st gear, previously it was said that it was due to not pre-loading and just dropping the clutch...which I understand
We installed a Staging brake and Pre-load now on the Clutchmasters FX700 clutch
It must've run around 3 events with pre-loading and yesterday it stripped 1st gear again.
What to do ??? Any feedback will be appreciated

I would contact Mfactory, and discuss with them what happened, but I can tell you that the 4.0 final and 2.78 1st gear are very tall for 26 inch slicks, i would suggest a 4.40 final drive , if not a 4.7 depending on weight. There might be too much load with that much low gear... I run the 4.0 final on 24.5's and it is almost to tall for me, 26's would be very hard to launch. Also are you getting a lot of shake with wheel speed with this gearing?
Mfactory does not recommend the PRO Syncro set for 26" slicks. Gearing is way too tall for that size tire. I believe Connelly is testing 26" slicks on their prototype dog box. Talk to Stephen and he will tell you himself....
In almost 10years of building honda trannys ive never seen a broken 1st. Ive even used mfactory and ats 3.0 1st with 26s. What kind of 60s are u getting when not breaking?
Doesn't surprise me.. Not to mention that MFactory will only blame you or find a way to do just that.. They'll blame it on the installation, oil, and so forth..

Thanx for the replies so far. This is the 3rd 1st gear it has broken. Problem is MFactory doesn't make a 4.4 for this gear set. They have the 4.0 and a 4.7.
We actually bought a 4.7 (for exactly the reason you state - having too much load) and tried that - but you permanently changing gears and the gearing becomes short for the speeds we want to run.
A 4.4 would be perfect. The car weighs 2200lbs. Tire shake has sometimes been present yes.
60fts are 1.49 - 1.55
Im thinking of going back to stock 1st and 2nd B16 gears and simply running MFactory Straight cut 3rd and 4th on the 4.4 OEM FD
24.5 tires would solve the issue I guess - problem is our track is no where near the quality of the tracks in the US - and lack of traction becomes a big problem.
When the track hasn't been sprayed with VHT - the car will lay black stripes through 4th gear with the 26's

I might be wrong but am almost positive that you can use a oem 4.4 final with your gear set. You can use the 4.0 with oem gearset so I pretty sure they are meant to be inner changeable...I would email them directly and ask to be certain. with the 4.7 how high are you reving your setup? you might have to revthe setup to 10400 to run those gears on 26's ... Not uncommon now adays....

Once again thanx for the replies guys
Im probably going to switch back to the OEM 4.4 FD and keep the MFactory PRO 1st - 4th gears.
The load issue makes sense now as the other similar powered Honda here in SA has never had 1st gear breakages and he was running an OEM B16 Trans.
We still managed to run a 10.1 launching in second gear (slipping the clutch) and getting on the brakes before the line (bracket racing).
