So i am getting a b16 head with everything internal built well and ready to be swapped on. I have never attempted an ls vtec build, and unless someone generously feels like walking me through everything, I'm really just looking for good resources as far as walk throughs, parts, etc.

This is still a daily driver, so some restrictions will apply I suppose, but I'm not willing to cheap out on things at the same time.

It will be going on a 93 ls bottom end, in a 91 EF Si.

What I have so far:

-B16 head (skunk 2 stage 2 tunercams,skunk2 valve springs and titanium retainers omni ss valves, AEM adj. cam gears)

-B16 intake

-B16 fuel rail

-Brand new Avid billet motor mounts

-Brand new Hasport shift linkage

I know I need the right ECU, but I search and find SO many different answers I get lost in it. I gather I need a different water pump? Which one?

Is there a lot of wiring involved? I am very confused on all the different views for routing oil for the sake of running the vtec?

This is admittedly the largest project I've considered and I want to do all my research and feel like I understand what i'm getting into before the first bolt is turned.

Dang! That first write up is brilliant!! I believe that may be my main instruction manual for the process, as always though, looks like I need to round up quite a few more parts. Which means more cash. thanks a ton, that was a huge help.

 

np. hope you didn't drop too much on your ls, since to do it right you will be rebuilding it from scratch.

i used that first one as a guideline for my mini me, even the brake in process, and it runs STRONG

 

Tthe ls swap came in this car when i bought it. It's 100% stock motor as it sits right now.

 

Your ecu option would have to depend on exactly what b16 head youre running
then id go from there and decide on what obd to run, as many will tell you obd1 is the way to go but youre gonna need a conversion harness if you go that route, check out rywire.com for that they have a lot of input for the electrical part of the swap

Awesome, I will check into the harness. Unfortunatley the POS Craigslister I had lined up to get the head from is giving me the silent treatment all of a sudden, can't get a yes or no on the deal... So this may be pushed back a bit longer now

But hey, more research time right

try to pick up a b16a head i think that be the easiest route for you
if you decide to go obd0 then there is no modifications required but if ou want to upgrade to obd1 then thats not hard either
