Default 94 civic LX auto ,need a replacement engine.

im looking to replace an engine in my wifes civic
94 civic LX with a d15b7.
she keeps burning them up because she never checks oil or coolant in it and runs it dry untill it blows up.

she overheated this engine about 10-15 times already.
i replaced few gaskets and water pump, but she dont care and still doesnt check the oil or water untill the car overheats.

anyway,

its an auto and her work beater car.

ive been looking for a d15b engine in good condition but they are not that easy to find
most of them are busted of have same problem.

i found a few d16 engines but not sure if they will work with this tranny.

impretty much trying to do minimum to get this car running and reliable for as long as possible.

will the d16y7 engine work with this auto tranny and what would i need to make it run.
can i swap the obd1 sensors from d15 to d16y and run the vtec wire and get a moates chip with d16y7 rom?
that way i have an option to swam other engines without replacing the ecu( i have the chip burner)

im mostly worried about the tranny beeing compatible with it.

i can get some d15b1 at the junkyard but thats also playing lottery with those, might be worse than what we have...

also if anyone can suggest why the tranny is "slipping"?

the RPM would jump randomly once in a while while driving steady and go back to normal

say im driving steady at 3000 rpm it would jump to 4000-4500 and go back to normal after a second or two.
and then rpm drops almost to 0 when coming to a stop light with my foot on the brake.

You could get a D16Y7 and swap the intake, exhaust, fuel rail, injectors, distributor etc for the stuff on your D15B7, keep the D15B7 ECU.

would it benefit at all to get a chip and have the d16y7 ecu maps on it or they use same ecu from factory?

Why? She doesn't maintain it currently so the replacement would get the same treatment. It would be a waste of money.

well it dont matter what i get.

if i rebuild her current one its gonna be toast just like the previous

dont want to spend my time fixing it when she gonna blow it up anyway lol

easier just to buy a block and swap it.

this one leaks oil and coolant so theres no easy fix for it anymore.

with better condition engine at least there wil be no leaks.

^^ X 2 OP, if you are aware of the mistreatment of the engine, spend an afternoon every weekend checking the vitals. Paying for a replacement, no matter what model is pointless if there is no routine maintenance preformed...

Stock P06 maps are close enough that I wouldn't bother.
