Icon6 99 Accord shifts too soon into 4th

My wife's 99 Accord V6 EX shifts too soon into 4th about 900 RPM or 27-28 MPH causing engine/tranny shudder. Pull it into 3rd and all is OK. 89K miles, no check engine light, scanned no codes, tranny serviced at 53K. Fluid level is OK with no leaks and smells good. Normal shifts with no slippage or shedder above 40MPH. Normal torque engagement. It must be hot for this to occur after the tranny temp sensor closes.

Any ideas and thanks for the help as my wife is on my 6 about it.

Thanks Matt--The screens are pristine. I am trying to see how to isolate the ECM from the shift solenoids. Does the Vehicle speed sensor send a signal to the ECM which in turns performs the shift cycle? I have been thinking VSS, what do you think?? There is no clicking that I can hear. Other than the early shift the tranny is solid with no leaks, slippage ,or check engine light. At 89K it is like a new car.

Thanks Lee

your wife is accelerating too slowly, haha
naaa, its normal

it seems the accord auto's only goal in life is to get to top gear as soon as possible

you could be a real geek and make a jerry-rigged temp sensor, replace dipstick with a cork and and stab a probe in it, you can figure out the rest i'm sure

i know the annoyance going into top gear super slow, so i leave it in D3 for times where i might just get up to 30 for a moment and stop/speed up

so in 30mph areas i gotta choose between using third gear and going slower, or just speeding instead , just a little

the best use for D3 is in the neighborhood, and school zones mostly, some shorter city blocks where you'd juuust get into 4th before stopping-which is annoying
