Just bought an S2k from an older gentlemen in his 40's he got it from a trade from a guy he knew trade it for a studio place or something...long story short...he thinks the car was repainted or the guy said it was not sure looks OEM even if it was repainted everthing looks to have been removed no overspray Window accessories look all in order also....things I need to fix so help me out S2k Gurus im new to S2000's...I looked around but cant find any good writes up ect.....can someone help or point me the rite way with the rite link.....


List of things need to fix
-Top still has plastic in the Back REALLY NEED HELP ON THIS when changing to glass do I need to change any parts in how it re-tracks back when i put the top down? Or do I have to change the whole top?not sure

-The guy said the gas cap was sort of broken or something that it has 4 pins for the clicks and two were broken...CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS ON for EVAP or something can it be that...car did pass smog recently

-Is it normal that I put it into gear I hear the tranny gears moving or differential shifting into place or something?

-Honda Emblems are Red aftermarket I want to change them back to OEM but dont know if it was removed if it was repainted....or put on after need to check it out

-S2000 side emblems were removed and replaced with "Honda" From S600 Models....wat do you guys think about those I dont really care but just wanted some thoughts on if I should remove them...and I hope he put those on after paint also if it was repainted


Other than that car drives fine just needs a drop....any help would be appreciated thanks

 

top- you have to replace the entire top
gas cap isn't the reason the EVAP CEL is on, pull the code and try clearing it to see what happens. or just get another gas cap, its like 5$ (if you think thats the issue).

the gears are loud, there's no shift linkage in the S2k, the transmission is directly under the shifter. the crisp clunk noise is completely normal.

honda emblems- see if you can pry it off with a credit card or something. do it as gently as possible and see what happens. If it hasn't scratched anything, you're fine, just find the normal ones.

S2000 side emblems- that ****'s ugly as **** lol.

 

theres a write up on s2ki.com about replacing the top search on there i think u just have to rivet on a couple straps to the frame so it holds slightly different

 

ill tell you from experience, replacing the top is a nightmare...be prepared to spend an entire day doing it...if youre not mechanically incline DO NOT try doing it yourself...ive been a mechanic for 8 years and it took me 8.5 hours to replace it...it was not a fun process...gas cap is no biggie, like dagle said, its like 5 bucks...pull the code to figure out exactly whats going on in the EVAP system...ditch the emblems and get stock ones(personal preference)...and the transmission is a direct drive type, so no linkage means a loud, clunky sounding shift, totally normal and not worth any stress

 

on the tranny part... if u owned a civic or integra in the past its totally a different feel.. a civic guy would think the trannys going out lol.. but the s2k is like this i guess.. when i got mine i thought something was wrong but i guess its totally normal..
