Default From Dirty to FILTHY

In the beginning, there was the Dirty D:
https://honda-tech.com/forums/appearance-build-threads-122/dirty-d-eg-si-build-pull-up-seat-picsx10000-2289092/

Now that the motor has been boosted for almost 6 years, the motor is finally showing it's age. Time for a rebuild. about 3 years ago I bought a spare Z6 motor, preparing for just this occasion. Lets see where this goes shall we?

The teardown (started today)

This thing was leaking and smoking out of every which fitting/hole/crevice.

Front bumper has seen better days. I wonder if a body guy can plastic weld this up?!

Long story short, I took my spare motor to a NE Ohio builder (who specialized in Hondas) and he Effed my A. Took the motor up there last June. Told him to stop working on it in October. Finally picked it up in JANUARY. Took it to a local engine builder to finish it. The motor is done and waiting pickup.

This build consists (so far) of:

-D16z6
Bored, honed, notched, FJT Turbo kit. Valve guides replaced on stock head
Go-Autoworks Mini-Ram turbo manifold
Edelbrock y8 Intake Manifold
AEM Fuel rail/FPR
GSR 60mm TB
Precision 880cc Injectors
Go-Autoworks Charge pipe kit

Still a lot to buy!!

I think I'm going with a .48a/r T3/T04e 57trim Garrett. Thoughts?

This weekends plans include:

Minor wire tuck. Remove fenders, run Headlight wiring through fenders. Try and tuck some other wires. Suggestions?!?! No cutting/lengthening if I can.

Once that is done, we're going to mark some of the unused holes for filling.
Next: Blown motor gets pulled
Get to work on prepping the bay for paint

Looking to put down somewhere around 340whp, with room to grow to 400 if and when I decide to build the head.

I'll be driving it quite a bit, so as long as the tune is safe, if it only makes 320-330 I'll be happy!

Previous setup was a bone stock Z6. 450's, 255 Walbro, T25 turbo, Head studs.
Put down 266whp

I'm throwing around the idea of Water/Meth right now to be safe.

It's amazing where the aftermarket has taken these D's. It used to be 250-300whp max. Now the sky is the limit. With Bisimoto and Go-Autoworks supporting the D's, it's a good time to be a D!!

Like I said, I'm shooting for 350whp on pump. I'll see how far I can go with water/meth before it gets squirrly. I just want a good/safe tune. Not out to make crazy HP numbers. 350whp in an EG hatch is going to be scary enough!

Next up (once it warms up), Fatmat the shell!

theirs a shop over here thats getting into them some are using those vitara pistons and have been able to build their motors super cheap, its tempting to try. 350 in a hatch will be plenty for daily use. get us some more pics!

You should have no issues getting the numbers you want. You and I have almost the exact same build..same IM ,same turbo manifold, same T/B size , same turbo (mine has a .63 ar turbine housing), same pistons. Good luck with everything!

Thanks folks. Wifey stole our Digi-cam for the weekend so I havn't been able to get many pics. Firewall is pretty bare now.

Trying to decide what to do with fuel lines/brake lines. Tucking would be nice but that will just end up being expensive and very labor intensive.

Also, pondering just putting a manual rack in. I've heard you can run the PS rack, but I'm not so sure about the longevity of it.

Wiring harness work starts wed. Bringing in an experienced veteran to lend a hand. Hopefully this mini-tuck doesn't get too crazy.

Next up - Get the car painted!

9 Hour drive? I'm afraid that's asking a lot lol. I WILL, however, be at h2o in Ocean City. Traitor I know, but there's a large VW following and I'm good friends with many of them.
