97 Del Sol S non vtec. Will be swaping in a D16y8. Can I use a 96-98 Civic Ex Vtec Motor harness that came with 98 Y8 swap? Wasnt sure if the Dash harness would plug up.
Nope. Your Del Sol has a 2-piece harness (engine to shock tower plugs and shock tower plugs to ECU/under dash plugs), where the '96-'98 Civic has a 1-piece harness (engine straight to ECU/under dash plugs).
you can.
i have a one piece rywire for a b16 running straight from the engine to the ECU.
i can't imagine why the dash wouldn't hook up keeping the OBD the same.

Just use the harness you have and then run 2 wires for vtec!
And change your Ecu of course jumper harness and p28 would be my choice.
Thinking to hard man! Use what ya got.

No, it just doesn't work that way. The underdash harness on '92 - '95 Civics, '93 - '97 Del Sols and '94 - '01 Integras comes out through the firewall to the shock tower plugs and actually all the way up the passenger's headlight and horn. It doesn't unplug from the engine harness by the ECU like on a '92 - '00 Civic.

So can I use a OBD2a GSR harness to make it plug and Play? I know I will have to repin and add a few wires from the shock tower to the ecu if I do this swap correct?
Yes, but you may have to repin the IACV wiring at the shock tower and there are no pinouts online for this, it's such a rare setup that doesn't often come up when doing an engine swap as it only affects '96 - '97 Del Sol S and automatic Si models.
I have a
96 del sol. I just called a friend and told him to build me a wiring harness for my setup and was done! Either keep pulling your hair out or just call someone to fix you up. I'm running a h2b setup in my though.

Who is pulling hair here? Im asking NORMAL OBD2 question. If your Info was something I really wanted to take to heart I would. But Im not.. I would really think hard before you post. Im not a Noobie and dont have to "CALL A FRIEND" to build me anything. I can do it myself. Thanks for you replies. But YOUR NOT helping.
