Default Speaker baffles

So I finally permanently installed my MB Quart Q's in the front door panels. noticed when I removed them that they were gettig wet so I had to use baffles. Installing 6.5" speakers in a 04 civic front door panel is a lot more difficult than it looks. I have never used baffles before and hope that they do not have an adverse effect on the sound quality, anybody have experience with baffles before?

I am getting ready to install the CDT 6x9's in the rear deck and wonder if I should use baffles there as well. Ive' heard people say that the pressure from a sub can damage the rear deck speakers and baffles will protect them?
