Default 01 gsr always takes 2-3 seconds of cranking to start..whats the problem?

Car is pretty much stock, b18c1.

the problem is 19/20 times my car will take a few seconds of cranking before it fires up. Then it runs fine. If i turn my car off, wait any amount of time, then start it, the same symptoms occur. Battery is new.

I can hear the fuel pump priming, most of the time.. and the relay clicks.

Could it be a clogged filter? Its almost new, only 1500 miles on a new fuel filter.

Could it be the pump? I think when i dont hear it, im just not paying attention to it... The car runs fine once its started.

thanks for any help.

check ignition timing, cap, rotor, wires, plugs and for leaking injectors. the injectors you test with a fuel pressure gauge. turn the car off, if the pressure drops fairly quick you're leaking. all the above can cause that condition

Could be the starter, might need to rebuild it. Don't want to get banned over helping out. Google "integra" and "Rebuild your starter for less than $20 ".

If you hear a click when turning the key, consider the ignition harness.
Same thing- "integra" and "Ignition switch harness replacement guide".

These are very common starting problems. Luck.

Leaking injectors is the first thing I would look for, especially if it starts easily if you turn ign. off for a second or two the restart, [no time for cylinder to flood]. 94

Thanks for the replies, and i will see if i can check the injectors tomorrow.

I did do the toyota rebuild kit for the starter.

ignition timing, cap, rotor, wires, plugs..These are all new.. The timing is right in the white dot.

UPDATE*********************

so i tested the fuel pressure..

when key is turned to on, it winds up to 51 psi (helms says 47-54psi) then it starts to drop down slightly,

I started the car and it stays at 51 psi. When i did the test with the vacuum hose clamped its gave me 43psi (helms says 38-46 psi)

i noticed that with the fuel pressure guage on, it did give me the problem, as the pressure dropped to around 38psi or so. Once i started the car the gauge read 51 psii, i turned it off, and the gauge DID NOT DROP. I started the car again at 51psi and it started fine.

Any ideas? I just did it 5 min ago, im going to tinker with it and see if i find anything new..

anyone else doing the same work be careful not to bridge the pos batt terminal with the wrench when you are unscrewing the banjo bolt....

edit.. 5 hrs later, its still doing it.
