Few Clutch Questions
Hey guys. I recently ordered a Stage 1 F1 clutch kit off Ebay. I was wondering if you guys could tell me what all I should lubricate while installing the new clutch kit. I also ordered a new clutch release fork and spring from the dealer because I have a problem with my clutch clunking when I let it out and a slight grind so I am going to replace the whole works. I hear there is a certain way the fork and spring need to go on, does anyone have pics of a properly positioned one? The Haynes manual doesn't really show how it goes on. Last but not least does anyone know how to remove/replace the pilot bearing? I have never replaced one. So here is the list of what all I am going to do.
-Replace Clutch disc/pressure plate
-Replace throwout bearing
-Replace pilot bearing
-Resurface flywheel
-Replace clutch release fork
-Replace clutch release fork spring
-Replace Clutch disc/pressure plate
-Replace throwout bearing
-Replace pilot bearing
-Resurface flywheel
-Replace clutch release fork
-Replace clutch release fork spring

Pilot bearing should just come out of flywheel easily. If not just tap it with a socket matching the outer diameter of the bearing. The one in my Clutchmasters flywheel drops in and out easily.
As for the release fork, there's really only one way for it to go on. It can be tricky getting the spring over the pivot inside the clutch housing, so be sure to move it around and back and forth to be sure the spring is on securely. And pay attention to how the old ones come off, how the old spring fits into the old fork, etc.
