93 acura integra stalling problem
hey everyone i just bought a 1993 acura integra ls for 700 dollars and it has an issue with stalling. it idles crappy at all times but on top of that it tends to just bog down when it reaches high rpms. it will also just stall frequently as well. the kid that sold it to me said the timing had jumped a notch and bent the valve in cylinder 1, so theres no conpression in that cylinder. he fixed the timing to get it to run how it is now but i was just seeing if anyone else knows what it could be? or if theyve had these problems before and its just an easy fix, then thatd be great. i can easily just replace the head with a b18b1 head if its just an issue with valves but i wanna make sure thats what it is, thanks
i had a HUGE issue with bogging and it turned out to be the Dizzy. the thing was all messed up and white smoke and plastic were all tore up inside it. pull the three pins off and look inside the cap. make sure the screw is there and then if you pull the little rotor off have someone crank it real quick and make sure it spins = belt is good.
hope that helps.
hope that helps.
thanks guys. i didnt even think to check the dizzy, thats a good point.the kid that i bought it from said it had the timing belt replaced when the timing was reset so thats why i just figured it was bent valves. we ran a conpression test and there os no conpression in cylinder 1 at all so i was thinking that must be because of the messed up valve. so ill try that too. i was also told the map sensor could be making it idle crappy but idk anything about that
well the kid said he replaced the timing belt already and had the timing reset so that shouldnt be an issue. as for the distributer i havent check yet but that is a good point. there is absolutley NO compression in cylinder 1 whenn i ran a compression test today and i know when timing slips it damages the valves (which is also what the kid said his mechanic diagnosed it as) so i could replace the head and check the dizzy while im at it since it needs to come off when doing the head swap anyways. hopefully i can fix it all and have myself a clean DA integra for under 1000 dollars
well im taking the head off on saturday so im really hoping its not damaged. the car stalled out today and wouldnt start again so i decided to call my honda crew down to my house and they pulled the valve cover off and the timing belt was shredded up hanging half way off of the cam gears because apparently the kid that had the timing "fixed" before never put a washer back in the crank pulley so now i need to buy i new timing belt, get that washer thrown on there, and on top of that the timing was definitley never re-adjusted because it was wayy off today when we really inspected it. there was also a missing rocker arm on cylinder 4 and the areas where the cams sit in the head were chewed up soo i guess i have a lot of work to do. with all that wrong with the car i wouldnt be surprised to see some piston damage as well but i guess ill find out friday :/

so i took the head off today and inspected the cylinder walls and the looks mintt thankfully. i picked up a cylinder head and valve cover up from the junk yard on saturday for 52 dollars which was a steal because the head is from a b1 motor and only had 100k miles on it. now i need to sell my rims so i can buy a new timing belt, and upper motor gaskits for the car then hopefully have it all back together and running next weekend!
