Why don't more people run M&H 25x8.7x13?
seems like all the sfwd and truestreet guys are running MT 24.5x9x13, is there a reason the m&h isnt as popular? theyre cheaper and taller, but does the .3" width really make a difference with the MT? or do you guys prefer the MT compound more? just a thought before ordering new slicks....

Personal preference. Van Natten hit 8s with the 24.5x9.5x13 M&H from what I recall.
We used a 4yr old set of 25x8.7 from our 2007 SFWD days. Had at least 20 passes on it and we hit a few 1.5 60fts with it last fall.

It is truly one case where sponsorship worked well for a company. Everyone in Sfwd ran m&h 25X8.7X13. I was buying a set every other weekend. When we got the Saturn deal, we also had a deal with Mickey Thompson. We tried out the 24.5X9 on the CRX and found out that it works really well, has more quality passes before it falls off and a 1.5" wider footprint (verified by NHRA tech
). I also think that the fact that MT does alot more r&d helps too. That being said, John from m&h is a great guy. We just found that the Mickey Ts worked better for us.

check out those 24.5 x 9w's - -that is the ticket, lol
like Brian said, once they started using them back in the day we all started testing on them and found them to be quicker -- Brian lent us one of his sets at Atco i believe it was and instantly we found a tenth quicker time on the short track just swapping tires over from the ones we were using (M&H 25")
when aired down to the pressures we run the MT's have a lot larger contact patch
M&H is great for service no doubt, their skinny is superior to the MT in my opinion due to the actual size of it and the way it fits the 15x3.5 wheels, but if it comes down to tenths for the win MT will be on my car

I feel bad because I run Mickeys up front and m&h for the skinnies lol. I've used both tires but on two totally different setups. My 330' is great on the mt for the power level I wa running

The MT 24.5x9's are the ticket, and MT knows it. I wish they would come down some, the last couple times we have gone to order some they are on backorder.
I have a bunch of low 1.6's with my 25's, best being 1.61. Only bad part is some races are 24.5 and I couldn't compete. I always hear 24.5 or 26" Guess im just stuck in the middle, lol.
I hate doing it, but I havent really found any place that can consistently get slicks to me in 2 days besides Summit. I havent REALLY havent looked because I dont really move that many sets...
If MH had a MWD on the East Coast that I know of, I would certainly try them which makes me assume more people would as well.
Accessibility is usually a major contributing factor to a part's popularity I have found.
i live a 10 minute drive from summit racing, so either slick is available and is stock for me. ive already picked up the mt 24.5x9, but was considering returning them for the m&h because theyre cheaper.
I loved my 25s. Cut low 1.6s all day & trapped just under 150 with them almost 4 years ago. Our all motor car is a 1.6 car with m&h 23s
I just went 9.39@159 with a 1.59 60ft tonight on a brand new set of 25's... I'm gonna push them to there limits and see what i can do with them. I loved 24.5x9.5 but i wanted a little taller tire so i got these.
