For peace of mind I went with the ASR when I put the USDM 22mm ITR rear sway bar on my 92 EH3

Alot of money though just for a slab of metal. $200 is too much.

Too expensive huh? I wonder what a tearout issue would cost?

Ohh, nasty. Personally i'd only run a stock 13mm rear sway bar without a brace.

Again for peace of mind, worth every penny, versus the alternative

I didn't think BSQ kits were still made.

You can get by using a Beaks kit, many people can attest to it on 92-95 Civics/94-01 Integras due to the location of the mounting of the D-brackets.

The above was the result of a 22mm sway bar and a flimsy little Beaks bar. Just in case you thought of going that route. Not my car although I do run the ASR. If you don't like the price try the cheaper BWR brace. Some say it's just as sturdy but I haven't seen anyone running it with such a large diameter bar.

Edit: I mis-spoke here. This was the KIT not the flimsy bar. Apparently with some poor suspension choices you can also risk tearout even with reinforcement like this. For 96-00 models stick with what works-ASR/F7.

Here's another example with another cheap subframe brace and a 22mm bar.

On your car the BEAKS renforcement kit should be plenty.

^^^ We aren't talking about the BEAKS bar, they make a renforcement kit.

$200 isn't anything. Wait until you tear a sub frame. It's going to cost a crap load more then a ASR brace. But this issue really only shows up on 96-00 civics.

^ I think you are mistaking the beaks bar for the beaks kit, the beaks bar will not do **** for subframe tear out, the beaks reinforcement kit will http://www.beaksproducts.com/SRK_EG_...nforcement.htm I do not see the a beak reinforcement kit installed on either, also on Eks its seems you need the asr as subframe is weaker than egs, also rear spring rates also fall into play with the tear outs

edit - also I believe Patrickgsr has used the beaks kit on his teg for a while now with good results the tegs have the same subframe as the egs

I don't think so. Here's the other pic.

Looks like the kit. Am I mistaken?

I am not mistaken .lol I know the bar wont do anything.

Is the from the first car posted?

I wouldn't use the kit on 96-00, the sub frames are really really thin.

was that an eg ? what were the spring rates ? if you put a big bar and stock springs I could see that happening.

This is from a 96-00 Civic as you can see how close the mounting bracket is to the edge of the subframe.

The 92-95 Civic has the mounting for the d-bracket inside of the LCA mounting points.

Yes. The same car. I tried to check out the web address on the pics for more info but no go. All I'm saying is that with a 22mm bar you might want to use something to reinforce the subframe bit not something so cheap (or nothing at all) as to risk tearout.

For a 96-00, REQUIRED. For the OP, not so much. I have never heard a sub frame tear problem with 92-95.
They have a stronger sub frame.

As soon as I posted I looked at the pic a little harder, and realised it was the same car. I just wasn't able to post.

96-00 got screwed.

Thanks guys for your inputs. So the bsq kit is a no go? All it is is a few washers and a tube spacer. I can afford the beaks reinforced kit for $70.

For you, that "should" be just fine.

It has been done plenty of times, but many people on this site.

You are referring to the beaks kit or the bsq kit? The bsq ran fine on my Integra.

Me neither. Apparently it isn't made any longer and hasn't been for a while. Was it true it only cost $20?

What the hell brace cost $20?

Why do I get the feeling it's junk?

Maybe. A few washers and a tube spacer. Maybe I should start a new business?
