Default CEL is on but not when i jumper it out, WHY?

Hey so my 96 integer has a CEL and when I go to jumper it out with the blue plug on the passenger side the CEL no logger pops up. Uk how normally it blinks the number, well not in this situation! Why? has anyone had this before? if so what is it?

If it's an issue it should be stored. Clear the codes and run the car until it comes back on (as long as you dont notice anything hugely wrong with it)

The only thing that sucks is the fact that it idols high and If I tap the gas pedal most of the times it will go back to normal, its almost like the throttle cable is bad and gets stuck all the time. Although it never did this with the previous motor!

clear the codes as indicated, then drive it and see what happens. If CEL comes back, check it. It could have been an intermittent code.

More than likely to fix this problem, clean your fitv and aicv...prob dirty. Once clean let the car warm up set the idle screw where you want it.

1996 cars were OBD-II, requires a scanner to obtain the trouble codes.

just cause you spot a older valvecover on your motor does not mean it was converted to obd1...it is too easy to swap valvecovers. If you wanna know what head it is, lock at it right above the header and see what year is there. Most likely will say 9/5. What ecu is in the car? Jumper harness there? Start there if you think its converted not by looking at the valvecover.
