Default 92 civic auto brake lights dont work, and shift lock as well

I have an automatic, and I have to physically put my car into Neutral via the shift lock before starting the car, because if I dont once I start the car I cannot get the car out of park into any other gear.

also my brake lights dont work at all. Im pretty sure they are related because this starting happening at the exact same time.

Some kind of shift lock relay or something?

any help would be awesome!

Brake light switch on the pedal is most likely bad, or the rubber piece attached to the pedal that pushes on the switch is missing.

brake light switch, or the rubber plug/stopper is missing. just as stated above.

i'd go with the stopper missing - it's $2 at the dealer.

If the rubber stopper were the only problem, then the brake lights would remain on. If the horn also doesn't work, check whether 20A hood fuse 42 is blown.

Guys you are awesome. I checked the 20A horn fuse, and I could see it was blown before I even too it out. Started the car, shifter went right down into drive, horn now works too. so im 99% sure my brake lights are working too. I will have someone check next time I can have someone outside of the car.

YOU GUYS ROCK!!!!! too bad I got a repair order 3 days ago.
