Default Downside to removing P/S pump?

I am changing my first T-belt and wpump on a 95 Accord LX. Is there a downside to removing the power steering pump? I would love to get that sucker outta the way. Does it need to be bled after re-install? Can that even be done on this car?

My preference would be to disconnect it at point #1, and if not, at point #2 (see pic) in order to move it farther out of the way. Any feedback Accord gurus?

Thanks!

Mike

Downside is you'll make a bit of a mess and have to buy some honda P/S fluid (which is somewhat pricey, do not use ATF or regular P/S fluid unless you feel like replacing the pump and rack) It has to be bleed, but the bleeding procedure is simply turning the wheel lock to lock of a few times.

Personally I just swing the pump up out of the way and tie it up with something rather than disconnecting the lines.

There is plenty of room to do your task without removing the pump 100%. Just unbolt it, and pull it and the resivour bottle out of the way.

It actually moves out of the way very little so I pulled it. Just took my brake bleed kit and sucked all the fluid out of the reservoir and attached hose. Hardly made a mess at all. Now I can move the one hose towards the firewall and take the pump, other hose, and rez completely out.

I'm with malakilla the PS pump is easy to move out of the way, IIRC there is a hose bracket on the firewall side where the PS hose goes down to the rack. 10mm I think. Remove that bolr/bracket and the hose allows you to flip the PS pump up and out of the way.
