my swap
ok, story is i recently picked up a type r almost complete long block and im going to slowly put it together. what i need to know now is what parts do i need? This is my first swap and a homie is gonna be putting it in while i knock back beers and treat him to pizza. haha but ima be learning along the way.
the swap is going into a 1997 EK
mainly i know the main components. what i know is i still need
ecu (which ecu runs with a b18c (type R) im not suree)
harness(ppl telling me to go OBD1 and others saying stay OBD2 is OBD1 just easier cuz of less sensors?)
tranny(GSR/B16/ITR)
crank pulley
fuel regulator
i might need a new dizzy if i switch OBD? or somethin i have no clue
that's all im for sure i need for now. how would i go upon seeing what else i need?
is there a site that shows what i need or something that deals with mainly swaps?
any hints/feedback negatively or positively is nice idc. i just wanna get this in asap :D. thanks in advance whoever helps me out.

you need to change your dizzy nam to which obd you decide to go with..honestly since your a 97 right? you have everything for obd2 mind as well go that path cause you'll need the obd2 to obd1 harness (*SPECIFIC FOR YOUR CAR TOO),ECU, and injectors, and might be some other stuff i'm missing out, but if you really want go obd1 if your planning in the future to tune it* no experience with that, but most people say it is much easier..but don't quote me on that.
and...
-motor mounts
-missing sensors that didn't come with the motor..
-and this one is maybe i'm not completely sure someone correct me ht..
alternator and starter?
*mind as well do the tuneup since it's out too..(spark plugs, spark plug wires, water pump, timing belt, etc..)

Find yourself a downloadable FSM(factory service manual) for your car and the car that the engine came from, that will give you all them information, sensors, brackets, etc. that you're going to need.
IMO, stay obd2, since that's what your car and engine are, keep it simple.

You cannot use a OBD1 harness without a lot of cutting and splicing.
Do you know what year the ITR motor came from? You are OBD2a, if the motor is OBD2a, it will be easier hooking it all up.
Keep it OBD2, and then if you wish buy a OBD2a to OBD1 jumper harness and run a p28 or another ecu.
You are not required to run the ITR ecu. But if you don't you'll need to get another ecu, chip it and it should be tuned.
By the way, EK really doesn't help us to much. We need to know what model the car is... Your car is not a EK!

or you can get a cheaper one on ebay up to you.
ej6 is his model i believe..and if his is OBD2B why would it be harder just wondering..cause they have the obd2b - obd1 conversion harness as well and just run an obd1 ecu? no?

96-98 is OBD2a, unless everything was switched to 99-00 (OBD2b) The plugs are different between OBD2a and OBD2b. Where the engine harness plugs into the car is different.
If his motor is OBD2a, almost everything will plug right in without any problems. I think there are some different plugs with OBD2b.
the itr is a 2000 and i know its not an ek but everyone ends up calling it an ek. it sounds better too
the dude said none of the sensors are missing but iunno where all the sensors are so i havent checked.

so if u want to go obd1..someone help me on this one lol
Use a '96 - '98 Civic harness, modifiy it to work (you'll have to add vtec and knock sensor wiring if using something other than an EX harness) and you'll need to extend a few connectors no matter what harness you use. Run an OBD2A ITR ECU, or run a conversion harness and an OBD1 ECU.
gee thanks for telling everyone i have a blue ek now everyone in oc that checks this thread will know that blue ek has an itr LOL. FAIL ryan
might as well take it to demon works now
