Default Bought an 82 civic and would like some help

well this is my 1982 honda civic 1300 4 speed base model. i bought this car on craigslist for the price of $450. Currently the things i know that are wrong with it is the transmission is broken. might just be the clutch cause its stuck in gear. the suspension is very soft so itll need to be replaced. all four tires are completely shot. the interior is in decent shape. carpet has heavy stains and seats need to be covered due to fabric being sun rotted. the reverse lights are stuck on when you drive it. the front left corner had some damage but has been mostly repaired. must have been in a small accident once. though the title is clear. the odometer reads 120,700 miles on it. but the title doesnt have the A on it indicating that those are the actual miles. so the miles are probably unknown. when the car runs it puts out a blue ish smoke out of the exhaust. i think its just burning oil. the body has what appears to rust free. the back speakers are completely gone. there might be a few other things with the car. but this is a good start. so i do have some questions. first off what do you think of this car? did i get this for a good price or did i get screwed on that? and if anybody has any ideas on how to fix any of what i mentioned then thatd be great or where to get parts.

Thanks

(oh btw im sorry this is so long what i wrote )

Looks like a decent project car. I've got some spare headlight chrome surrounds if you need them.

Ijust obtained an 83 1300 from my mom. It is EXACTLY like that one. The first thing I did was go to Rock Auto and find out that they are practically giving away parts for this model. I am having issues with the carb and it is really complicated to overhaul.

I think you will find you made a good investment in a really unique car that will get incredible gas mileage. My mom bought her's new andit got over 40 MPG which is better than a hybrid.

Let me know if you get in a bind. I am learning a lot about this car and can definetely help out!

Congratulations on owning a important piece of automotive history. There are plenty of resources available to you regarding the 2nd gen Civics (80-83). Personally, I own a (all) blue 1980 Civic DX automatic that is my daily driver. Beside the aforementioned RockAuto.com (think they're clearing out Gen2 Civic parts as we speak), there are fantastic and resourceful people on www.1stgencivic.org/2ndgeneration_civic/ where you'll find many of the same people owning the same (and older) Civics as you do. I am not a mechanic by trade but learning more and enjoying every minute of it!

Good luck and thank you (as I speak for all, surely) for not allowing another piece of history to go to the junkyard.

Chas

looks really good for an 82 civic, do you plan on keep a carb. engine in the engine bay?

$450! That's a great deal, IMO. It runs, it's a manual, and seems to be in pretty decent shape, though I hope that transmission problem doesn't end up costing you too much.

This was the first car I remember riding in. My mom drove one when I was really young. I remember how hot those vinyl seats got in the sun, so if you're going to recover them, I would recommend cloth! Watch out for the rust, though. The only reason my mom and dad had to replace it was that the frame started to rust.

Great find!
