Default Engine surges and car kicks

The engine in my 1999 Accord Ex surges(about 100-200 rpms) when coming to a stop and then the car kicks fwd a bit before coming to a full stop. This is more pronounced when the brake is applied and less so if car just cruises to a stop. The sensation is almost the same as when the car is put into drive from park. This does not happen when coming to a stop when going backwards. The brakes feel normal. Do I have a slipping transmission?

Hi this is just a thought, it could well be your weak front engine mounting. The way to check is to keep the bonnet open & then engage in to forward gear & gently bring the
clutch in to biting point, this will make the engine to jump, if the engine mounting is weak. Ask somebody to keep an eye on the engine mounting, also making sure he or she is clear from the car.

The engine does move when moving from park to drive. The back end tilts up a bit.
