new lsvtec swap wont start...wont even crank
I have an lsvtec. B16 head..stock b18a block. It wont even crank. The starter is clicking and is a brand new replacement that i just changed. Alternator is good. Charged and tested the battery and its good. Checked and tightened the grounds at the tranny/VC/therm housing. Still a no go. Anybody know what else to check? Its getting fuel obviously not spark tho. My clutch pedal isnt bled since i havent done that yet and is still at the floor..but i thought it would atleast crank.
i would just try just giving the starter a couple love taps with a hammer.... its weird i actually had to do this to a friends z6 this morning.... it wouldnt do anything, wouldnt turn over or nothin and i grabbed a rock out of her yard and gave it a couple love taps and it fired rite up
Either its your clutch pedal or my buddies lsvtec I forget what starter and tranny and block but we had to grind the pin on the starter that shoots out to turn the flywheel for some reason it was hitting.
You should never have to grind down anything to make it work properly. If the clutch switch has not been deactivated in some way then no his car will not start or even crank over without the clutch pedal pressed all the way down.
If it was the CIS you would not get even a "click" out of the starter.
Do a bypass jump, supply power, [using a jumper lead] directly to starter solenoid, you can jump from batt. pos.(+) terminal ot the batt. terminal on starter motor.
A "click" from the starter motor would indicate the solenoid is working but power is not getting to the starter motor, check the batt. cable connection to the starter motor.
A not so uncommon problem, [actually an install problem] with Honda/Acura starters, [even brand new ones] is poor contact of high current terminals off the solenoid, this is most often caused by the contacts being misaligned by turning the batt. cable stud when tightening, [over-tightening] the nut that holds cable to stud, if the stud turns, even a little, it will misaligne the contacts, resulting in just a "click" from the starter motor.94

ive been away on buisness in PA this week so im gonna try all this tomorrow..thanks again for the help guys..also theres a bit of corrosion on the negative battery cable..im gonna switch that out also..ill bleed the clutch but idk if thats really the problem..when i start the car..you hear the rapid clicks..speedometer goes a lil crazy...and thats it..if the clutch wasnt engaged wouldnt it just be silent and not click at all?
Friend of mine had his clutch switch unplugged. It was clicking at the under hood fusebox. Make sure you can clearly tell where the clicking is from. Check your battery,Starter, and fusebox to make sure there getting 12v. Goodluck
