Default D16Z6 vs. B16A2

Hello,

I just saw a posting in my area on CL where a guy wants to straight trade his B16A2 for a D16Z6. I have a D16Z6. He says his has 70k on it. mine has bout 120k. Seems like from what I read the B16A2 is a solid engine.. why would this guy want to trade?

Ask him.

It's not a fair trade for pricing. That is a warning flag right there

Is it both motor and trans or just motor it self?

He may have a legit reason to want to go to D series but asking for a straight up trade when the value is not the same I'd be quite leery. Talk to him, ask for the motor's paper work, history and also request to do a compression test before a transaction.

b16 most likely has something wrong with it like bad ring or rod knocking, dont trust craigslist if it sounds to good to be true most likely is

Here is what he said when I asked why. "true the B16 is a much better motor, i got the car with the motor in it about a month ago, well i only wanted the car for gas mileage and commuting, and the b16 is more expensive to fix if something breaks. i am talking motor and tranny swapped together, computer and all. anything wrong with your engine?"

Why would he buy that car when finding a non B swap would be easier and cheaper?

Also why not ask the fair price of your D + cash?

Something is strange about it to me. Less miles better motor ...

Ask for papers and a comp test, he might just not know or care.

Yeah.. it is still in the car. and driveable. etc.. but the truth came out. he is wanting the D16Z6 plus 700 to 1700 depending on what he thinks.. I looked and another guy has a full K20 for 500.. Not sure I'll do either, but would do the K20 if I had to choose.

here is the post. http://boise.craigslist.org/pts/2255080737.html
Don't think it is stolen. I bought my CRX to save on gas money though.. had though a straight across swap would have been cool.
