Default Good deal or not?

I'm looking at buying an 95' Honda Civic 4dr with 168k miles on it. Alright and the deal with it is that whenever I start it up, it doesn't want to start right away.. it sounds like it is trying to find gas. But it starts up after about 5-10 seconds.. Well anyways whenever test driving this car, It likes to idle really low and almost pull like it is starving for power.. the idle drops and the car wants to die. Whenever at a stop light or whenever I stop putting on the gas it just dies. What do you guys think it could be? Do you think that 2,000.00 bucks would be a good deal even if I had to get it repaired?

it's a dealer.. he bought it from an auction for like 1,800 and selling it to me for 2k.. so yeah I don't know about that. because he would charge 2.5-3k after it's fixed probably..

I'm going to think about cleaning the IACV and changing air filter/spark plugs.. and going from there.

yeah, i mean for the $500+ difference, you could have a new hood and a lot left over to fix it up a bit.

have him fix the problem or drop the price, from what you mentioned that car is not worth 2k. when i bought my hatch it was all f***ed up on the outside but the interior an mechanically the car was great and still i got the guy to drop the price, some new exterior parts and a little body work later....problem fixed, and it still runs great!!

yeah he most likely bought it for <800 from the auction, not 1800. don't bother with it. you don't HAVE to have a Honda. There are plenty of other cars that would do you much better and you wont have to deal with the repairs. the thing is probably a bucket.

I bought my VX for 900. It did/does have small issues I'm fixing up slowly. for under $1100 they will all be fixed by me so I'll know they were done right. (budget is $2k total) Whenever you have to "fix" something it always cost more than you think it would. Keep that in mind.
