Ok so i have a 93 del sol si with a b20b p8r and b16 tranny.The motor is healthy and i have no issues till today.I came home from work and parked the car,half hour later i get in to go to buy something and the car wont start.The car cranks and runs perfect if i keep the key held on the crank position.Also i notice this just now.I stick the key in and it goes from I to II and then crank,but on the II position my cluster normally lights and stuff start working but now it wont do it.On the II position nothing lights up???Only in the crank position does everything light up.Any suggestiong would help guys thanks

 

Sounds like a bad switch

i had the same problem a couple days ago..check and clean allll 3 grounds..ESPECIALLY the ecu ground on the thermostat..thats the one that got me..saved me 150 bucks from buying a new ignition switch.. but if that doesnt do it..most likely its going to be your ignition switch

 

Ive jad that issue before,and the symptoms arent the same.when my ecu ground was loosr it would crank and just go blank,like a loose battery terminal.

So i started to mess around with the ignition between I and II and depending on how hard i press it will work.so its got to be my switch.

Would a 92-95 civic swith work? There are alot of those bieng parted out here

 

yeah sounds like the switch.. when your car shuts off does your warning lights come on? and yess a 92-95 ign. switch works for your del sol

 

Completely dead no sound or lights,unless its on crank.If i let goit wild shut of.

 

Had this problem before I went back home for Christmas. I would turn the key and have to keep my hand holding the key in the last position to get it home. Bad for the starter, but i was pretty close to home. It made all my gauges move up and down. It turned out to be the ignition switch. I pulled most everything out from underneath the steering wheel, took apart the switch and found that one of the connections kind of looked like it had oxidized. I took some sandpaper to it and re-soldered it. Works fine now.

 

Bingo,apperently the person who installed the alarm had taped the wires together after he tooked it out leading to false contact
