Fuel Gauge Stuck after swap
i just swapped a eg ex gauge cluster into my eg dx ! everything works great except that the fuel gauge is stuck on full. i filled up my gas tank the other night and have been driving the whole day (total 50+ miles) and the needle doesnt drop even a bit compared to the dx cluster. ive been thinking about disconnecting the battery, reconnecting to see if that does the trick, if not, then maybe clean the terminals on the back of the cluster a bit? any pointers guys? thanks!
My eg6 cluster in my eh hatch does that. I get over well over 100 km on the trip before the guage even moves, but the gauge works perfectly. I assume it is due to a difference in tank sizes between my EH and the sir-II. just keep driving it, and it probably will go down in another 50 miles. If not, check the connection and follow the wire back to the tank and check for breaks. If none of the above work, the cluster is bad.
hirogx,
The fuel gauge is most likely broken. This often happens when someone removes the gauge from the back of the cluster and then, while putting it back on, tightens the screws too much. This breaks the connection, thus your gauge is stuck on full. You need to get another fuel gauge from a donor cluster and swap the gauges, this time CAREFULLY tightening the screws (not too tight now).
