Timing Tensioner replacement
97 Civic Hatchback DX - Folks, I've read a ton of threads. Everybody seems to agree that on the 2nd TB change, you should replace the tensioner. From my point of view, the tensioner spring NEVER gets any wear. The spring ONLY gets used when you adjust the tensioner during the TB change. So why ever replace the tensioner as long as it spins freely and there is no roughness in the feel?

I have read reports here of tensioners failing and so causing a timing (often catastrophic) failure. I advise the peace of mind of changing the tensioner at least every other TB change and checking the tensioner (as you suggest, by removing, turning, and noting bearing condition) each TB change.
