Default Valve tapping sound from head after Mini-me Swap

Well I finished my Mini-me swap. I dont have Vtec wired in yet because I was still searching to see if I could wire it in to the shock tower even though I have a 93' dx. I got it all running and done but now I have a tapping sound. The engine I pulled the head from was already rebuilt said the previous owner, and the cylinder walls, etc showed he wasnt lieing. New water pump, etc. So I searched here and found nothing but google showed a little light. Alot of guys had the same complaint with this and even though there valve clearances were good, it still was there. Lost motion assmblies was the culprit. I got the part number from a honda parts website.

14820-P08-000 *pic-009 *Req-004 MOTION ASSY., LOST *list-47.12 *Our-ea.32.98

I beileve my engine sat so long that the became frozen, especialy those winter months in my buddies shop with no oil in the head, or engine for that matter.

Anyone can point me to a write-up for this? Im not looking at my engine or the parts right now so I have no idea of precautions to foolow. Plus I ordered a FSM on cd from a ebay guy and it hasnt come yet. Thanks all for the help. Also any help on the v-tec wiring would help too.

I finnaly got my FSM in the mail. Its fairly easy to inspect and replace the LMA ( Lost Motion Assembly). verbatim FSM:

Gotta love ebay and this service manual for that matter.

Ah to bad I didn't see this before! I was gonna say you should probably check your lost motion assembly.
I had this problem way back when.

Have you adjusted the valves?

My friend got a motor, that made a hell of a lot of noise. He thought it was the Lma's.

We adjusted the valves, and it was ok. Still made some noise, but almost cut it in half. He did end up replacing the Lma's, which took care of the rest of the noise.

It's deffinetly worth a shot, could end up saving you some money.
