Okay .. time to pick at your brains ...
Ive been trying to firgure out HOW to install a 96-98 CTR / EK4 cup holder in my 99 hatch.
The reason i wanna run this cup holder in my hatch is because i have the ctr dual din block off plate and wanna keep the clean look while still running a stereo.
Has anyone done this ?? please chime in if you have done this kind of swap !!!!
any info would help.
Heres the link to the 96-98 ctr cupholder i wanna install

I don't understand. Perhaps it's because I'm unfamiliar with the '99-'00 cupholder, but shouldn't you just remove the center console, remove the shift ****, remove the interior panel that goes around the cupholders (which holds the shift boot as well) and then once that's all out, unbolt the cupholders and replace them?
I have a '98 so I could see it potentially being slightly different, but everything I mentioned is the same besides the cupholders.

What's so difficult? Just like NOFX says, a few screws, remove the shift **** and center console then swap parts.

are the 99-00 dashes the same as a 96-98? I am unfamiliar with 96-00 civics, but I know there were some differences between the generations.
I spoke to matt from ICB and he said that i need something from a 96-98 civic To make it work. The problem im having is WHAT ?
So the guy from ICB doesn't even know? Nice. I've swapped both of the USDM style ones back and forth and never needed "something" to make them work.

Hmmmm...think you could take a pic of the ctr cupholder kind of in place where you're trying to put it, and show us what part isn't lining up exactly?
I love how they say it fit's 96-98 hatchs only.
If I remember correctly my friend bough a cop holder from a 99 and it fit his 97.
Maybe pull your cup holder and compare to the pic's?

Oh ok...I was under the impression it was already purchased and you were having a problem...yeah I've seen people swap cup holders throughout the 6th gen USDM models all the time. Alot of people that have the 96-98 keeps breaking so they usually switch to the 99-00.
there are some differences. just swapped my 96 to a 99-00. already had it so why not, i like the bigger cubby hole. the 96 had a spot where the shifter cover cliped on both sides and the 99-00 did not. but as for mounting everything was the same. fits like it should be there.
I installed this on my coupe the other day
And I have installed a 96 cupholdee on a 2000 coupe before too so u shouldn't have any issues

The console shells are the same, this is just another variation of cupholder. If you want a din opening/bracket and the lidded cupholder, a stock unit from a 96-98 US car will be a lot cheaper. I removed the slave tape player from mine, and put a single din pocket in there. The JDM cupholder looks nice, but it's expensive!

Also, IIRC Honda sells a repair it for the latch (which is what breaks)
