D15 Swap
Since my other thread was apparently closed, I decided to open a new one so I can get a few more opinions about my swap.
I am thinking about swapping my D16 for a D15. I know it sounds dumb but, I am on a limited budget. Plus I know I can change some of the internals down the road if I wanted to push more out of the engine.
My plan is to get the motor, the tranny, ram air, intake manifold, headers, and a cat back, and install them in the order over the course of the summer and into the fall. Of course as long as the funds allow. Thoughts?

The only reason I am thinking with this motor is because my D16 now has over 250K on it. I know Honda blocks last forever if taken care of, but I just don`t need any other problems to arise with this motor "knocks-on-wood".
The engine has over 250K on it. So what? Is there any reason besides this that you need to swap out to an even smaller displacement engine? And you were already told, bolt-ons on any D-series engine is a waste of money. Do a compression test to see what the health of the current engine is.
Is it burning oil or giving you any problems right now? Or is it just high mileage?

All I want to do, is swap out my current motor for one with less miles on it. I don`t need want my car to be a racer, I know it seems that way, but it`s not. I just want to get the old motor out of my car, put a newer D15 in, and be the end of it. I didn`t think it was such a big deal lol
are you talking about a jdm d15b vtec? if so its a great idea, less miles, more reliable, cheap, whats there not to like, plus your ecu will work for it, and itll bolt right in. I say do it. fyi jdm d15b makes the same power as your d16z6 so its not like your loosing power.
Btw I wouldn't bother with intake, header or any of that other stuff. There just about useless, use the money to tune up the new motor. Water pump, timing belt, plugs wires, rearmain seal, valve cover gasket, etc.
Lol250k is nothing to worry about, I have a d15b7 that i swapped for a d16 sitting outside my window with 450+k on it. all it needs is a head gasket, i blew it trying to get out of the snow... lmfao
mileage means zero. ive had cars at or around 100k that are whooped and run like ****, and ive had cars with 250-300k that run like new. how about a compression/leakdown test? if the motor is healthy, i dont see the point in all the work.. especially for a downgrade.
Anyhoozers, I have a d15b with vtec that I was forced to pick up when my d16y7 blew and funds weren't there for a B-series, but I wanted something reliable, and I can say this:
