Icon3 New HIDs wont turn on.. 09' civic

So my buddy wanted to get some HIDs for his 09' civic coupe... he ordered a JLM HID kit off amazon (i didnt really look at the different kits out there so im not sure if its a great kit or not...) I offered to help him install the new kit and after plugging everything in...nothing. the whole kit seemed pretty plug n play, the only real plug that seems could get mixed up is the wire from the ballast to the main harness plug where the factory bulb would plug in. it doesnt really have a direction on it so could go in either way (we tried both.. still nothing) The kit came with basic instructions for an optional set up for an inline relay for the ballast... i looked around to a bunch of different sites and tried just connecting the ballast strait to the battery to see if it would turn on (doesnt make any noise either... i thought HIDs should hum when they are on). i also tried just grounding ballast to the frame, only had 8 guage speaker wire so im not sure how well it would ground but we tried to multiple locations on the frame and still nothing. Im not really an expert on wiring tho so im not sure if i did everything right as far as testing the connections after we couldnt get it to work

any ideas or any bit of help would be greatly appreciated, or possibly someone with the same kit who did it themselves.

If you have the power and grounds all hooked up, it could be a signal issue coming from the OEM headlight plug-ballast connection (like you said). It should have come ready to go for the car though... And yep, you'll hear a high pitched hum or whine even from them. Is there still nothing even when you hit the hi-beams?

the high beams still work but they're a separate bulb and plug..but i guess still on the same system.. i checked every possible fuse too, high beams, low beams, main, accessory...everything and still nothing.. im just wondering if its not grounding properly or something like that cuz theres no hum or anything from the ballasts at all. the system seemed about as plug n play as possible. also wondering if someone knows the wiring harness colors, there was a green with (i think...) brown stripe and a black wire coming from the OEM harness to the bulb. does anyone know which color is positive and which is ground?

if you said your friend has a 09' civic coupe, it uses a 9006 base bulb. 9006 bulb's don't require any relays, the HID kit should simply be plug-n-play. Make sure you connected your wires properly as follows:

-two small connectors that connect from the each bulb to the ballasts
-the larger plug from bulb to ballast
-and the other plug from bulb to the original factory harness for low beam

if it doesn't work, try switching the larger plug that goes from the bulb to the ballast around since some HID kits require it to be reversed polarity

or try unplugging the plug from the bulb to the factory stock harness which some cars require (like my friends gen 3 teg)

hope this helps.

the larger plug from the ballast to the bulb comes hardwired to the ballast.. everything else was left to plug together but it all had connectors on the end that make it pretty much only one way to put it all together... the only option as far as wire mix up would be the plug from the ballast to the oem bulb plug (white connector)...is there any possibility of ruining the ballast if we plugged it in wrong or should it just be a matter of flipping the plug around and trying again?
