Default 85 civic problem

I replaced the clutch, flywheel, and pressure plate in my 85 civic hatchback. Afterwards I drove the car back and forth once or twice in the driveway and then it quit pulling. There were no noises or anything, it just stopped pulling. I have already pulled the tranny out again to make sure I did everything correctly and everything seemed fine, except for the throwout bearing was catching on the end of the shaft when I operated the clutch while the tranny was out on the ground. It would pop loose when I tapped the clutch actuating arm, but now that it's back in the car no such luck.

Any suggestions ?

Id say your throwout bearing is getting stuck, leaving your clutch from engaging.

Did you grease that sucker?

Yes I greased it. It is getting stuck since I put the new flywheel in. It seems as though the bearing is traveling to far on the shaft. My next thought was to try and adjust either the cable or actuating arm on the exterior of the tranny to keep it fro traveling so far. Either way I will have to pull the tranny again and either adjust it out or put the old flywheel back in.

Everyone who has looked at the old flywheel doesn't seem to think it's bad. I was replacing it because it has been slipping since i got the car 2 years ago. I replaced the clutch and pressure plate once and it still slipped after a very short while. The old flywheel doesn't even look like the clutch disc has damaged it at all. When I originally put a new clutch in it. The old disc didn't even look half worn ??? It seems as though the flywheel is just a little bit to far away from the clutch and it is only using up some of the clutch disc before it starts slipping ???

Got some bad weather the last couple of days though and will get back to it as soon as it clears and warms a little.

I appreciate your reply and either way I'm gonna get this sucker back on the road. I have been driving my big work van and it's killing me at the pump...and I miss driving the old Honda.

Thanks,

I figured it out and fixed it. It was the new flywheel. It was 3/16's of an inch off from the old flywheel.

From what you are saying I would re-adust your clutch cable. I just delt with a similar problem. Make sure you have about a 1/4 pedal play so as to eliminate any drag. And make sure you're not resting your foot on the clutch pedal while driving.
