Default What turbo for a stock motor 99 SI?

Ive got a nearly stock 99 Civic SI which has a few bolt ons , Skunk 2 intake manifold, Tanabe cat back, Aem Underdrive pullies. Im looking at putting a kit together and was interested in hearing ppls opinions on a turbo that will get me to around 300whp on my stock block and head. Car has around 85,000 miles and runs 100%. Looking at a simple log style manifold. Your insight and opinions are appreciated. Complete turbo specs would be great.

I had a Precision SC-34 (57 trim) .63 a/r for my first 300 whp goal and loved it. The standard Garrett 57 trim T3/T04E's are the equivalent, and are easy on your wallet, as well.

What size is your Tanabe exhaust? Also, what kind of powerband are you looking for? A/R choice will play a role here, as far as how the power is delivered, especially with the short stroke of the B16.

Id like something not to laggy. We all know these motors are gutless on the lower rpm range. The exhaust is 2.5" I believe, but I could always go with a full 3" if there was that much more power to be made. Does 300whp sound do-able on a stock motor?

For that goal, the 2.5" will suffice. For an even more optimum powerband, the T3/T04E 50 trim will suit you even better. I had a 50 trim Borg Warner unit on a stock LS, and I reached maximum pressure (full spool) by 3800 rpm. Even with a .63 a/r turbine housing, that 50 trim still would be a very responsive turbo on the B16, and that size exhaust housing will hold the power all the way to redline.

And yes, 300 whp is doable all day with flying colors, granted the motor is healthy, compression & leak down wise. With a good solid tune, she'll make music for a long time.

I had a 57 trim precision turbo on my stock b16. Turned it up to 12 psi made 310 was super fun on the streets. 300 is very doable. Just don't do it halfass do it right the first time and get a great tune and have fun.

For that goal, pick up some RC 550's or Precision 525's and you're set. DSM 450's will do the trick also, but you'll be at a higher duty cycle with those. Give yourself a little lee way.

Would these work for my application? Or do they require modification?
