Think my civic might have a bad tune?
So I just got this car a week ago and I've fixed some of the problems with it but there are still quite alot left. The motor runs really rich and whenever I push it, it smells like gas. It is hard to get going from a stop. The whole car lurches forward until you get moving. It also is getting terrible gas milage. Why is it chugging gas? I think the motor might have a bad tune? The guy I bought it from said when he got it, it had a tapped oil pan. Could it have been boosted and I'm running a bad turbo map?
The motor is a B18B1 non v-tech OBD1 conversion. When I bought it the guy said I pick a p75 or a p06 ECU. I took the p06.

open up the ECU and see if there's a removable jumper at J1. if so pull it and see how the car runs on the OE P06 map. check out post #19 in this thread for a pic.
anyway, that may rule out the ECU for you.
what were the other problems you already fixed?

Some other problems I have with it is the brights don't work, needs tie rod ends, throttle body sticks, throttle body cable is messed up, just a lot of little things.
Anyways, the guy that wired up the harness didn't do a very good job. It kinda of looks like I'm missing a few sensors. Does someone have a list of all of them and where they're located? There isn't one on the intake air box, and there is a spot on the right side of the intake manifold where it looks like one should be. Should I pull the harness and reinstall it? Or just buy a new one?

My p06. Doesn't look chipped as far as I can see..

Close up on one half.

Close up on the other half.

This is the only thing that looked like it didn't belong. This isn't a chip is it?

Two plugs under the airbox with no home..

Is there supposed to be a sensor on the intake manifold?

Another shot of the two plugs.

Can anyone tell me what thing thing is?

Red wire unattached on whatever this is.. sensor?

Here you can see one of the plugs and the thing that the red wire is off of. What is it?
Bottom picture is another close up of the plugs.
No the check engine light is not on. Although I think it should be. Is there a way to disconnect it?
And as far as I know they are stock.

Imma take a stab at this. First off IAT (intake air temp) is the sensor on the intake manifold and its not plugged in, so your definately throwing a code for that I would imagine. One of those sensors that was un-plugged could be O2 and one could be the knock sensor. Knock sensor is not a big deal un-plugged, infact you may not even have a sensor for it on that motor. Second off, the ECU is def. not chipped, and I would try and run an OBD1 p75 for proper engine running. These are stock ECU's so the Maps in them are good maps for a stock motor, you have other issues, and I dont think the ECU would be causing the problems you said. The one picture of you asking what "this is?" is a resistor box used for High impedence injectors. Im guessing the car was definately turbocharged, and may still have some large injectors in the rail. This would explain why the car runs like Poop, because its on a STOCK MAP, which is thinking that the injectors are 240cc and not any larger, which you may have. Need some more info to help you, but IF it were me, here is my plan of attack:
1.NEW HARNESS, cuz that thing looks like garbage and we need to rule it out completely.
2.Adress the intake manifold sensor, and the injectors. I think this is 60% of the problem., The resistor box is not needed for stock injectors
3. Compression and leak down test of motor to see what condition its in, if the motor was boosted, and home-boy just whipped it back to stock like an *** hole, it may be hurt internally, hard to say.
There is a start for ya, hope it helps.... what a mess you got on your hands there, but I think your on the right track towards getting it back into running condition.

dose the check engine light (cel) come on when you first turn on the car ? it looks like the IAT is not hooked up, the square plug looks like it may go to the 02 and I think the metal looking box is a resistor box, check and see if the CEL light is cut if its not lighting up when you first start the car

I think I'm going to buy some 240cc injectors and fuel rail.
How can I take out that resistor box if I don't need it anymore?

If you are still running the larger injectors from when the car was boosted with no tune, which it sounds like you are, that would explain you running rich.
You might wanna call the guy you bought it from and have him clarify the mess he gave you, as in was it previously boosted and was the car returned to it's pre-boosted state.
