2002 Accord SE
Finally got around to replacing the stock CD/tape deck in my 2002 Accord SE. One of the wires coming off of the new wire harness was an orange/white wire labeled Dimming. The new aftermarket deck didn't have a corresponding wire to connect to, so I decided to connect this to the 'illumination' wire on the new deck.
I didn't realize until after finishing the install, and driving at night, that the dash lights no longer come on. I just checked again, and found that the tail lights are no longer funtioning either. I checked fuses, and didn't notice that any are burnt out. There is a space under the hood fuse box labeled "dimming relay", but it is a blank space. There is another 'space' in the fuse box under the dash for 'day light', also blank. I checked several other fuses, didn't see any blown fuses.
I have since disconnected the dimming lead from the wire harness so that it is not connected to anything.
Did I blow a fuse that I just haven't seen, or did something else get shorted out? Or do I need to connect the dimming lead to something? Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

i have a similar problem to yours except its just the dash lights that wont come on and now my engine wont turn over. i searched it on the internet and i think that it may be that the multiplex on the drivers side has malfunctioned
I've read that if a tail lights goes out, that the dash lights will go out until the tail light bulb is replaced. This is so the driver knows that a lamp is out. I haven't checked my tail light bulbs, but I don't know how I would have burnt one out just by replacing the stereo.....
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!!!
