What does ILL stand for????
I just took my pioneer deck out of my old car in preperation to put it in my accord. There is an orange wire with a white strip labeled "ILL," and there is a plastic thing somewhere on the wire, so I assume there is some type of capicitor or fuse or something in there. My wiring harness has an orange and white wire labeled dimmer. Any help is greatly appreciated. I guess worse comes to worse I can insulate it and just not worry about it...
Illumination?
maybe the plastic thing is a glass fuse inside a tube fuse holder?
dunnoz I don't have a pioneer deck.. maybe someone else w/ one can help you further..

I have never used the illumination on my pioneer decks, it is just for when you turn your lights on, it dims the display to conserve energy.
I think it dims the display so its not overly bright at night... in the daytime (w/ the illumination wire hooked up and dimmer activated) because of the bright sun.. the headunit display needs to be brighter in order for you to see the display in the daylight..
at night when its dark (when you turn on your parking lights and headlights..the head unit dims).. it takes less light/luminescence from the head unit for you to see the lighted display on the head unit at night.. vs daytime when there is light/sunshine.. so the unit/display has to be brighter for you to see it.. ..
on my Alpine unit I have the option of turning the dimmer on or off.. I have the illumination wire hooked up.. but I have the dimmer off..
