OBDII into OBDI, what do I need?
I've found a '96 ls swap that I'm going to put in my '95 GSR. It's to my understanding that if I used the ls wiring, I don't need to rewire anything. (I'm going ls because I'm going turbocharge the car and the ls is a lot cheaper).
I know I'll need the OBD1 ecu, distributor, wiring harness. Is there anything that I'll need? The accessories should work regardless of OBD1 or OBDII, correct?
Is there any way that I can use more OBDII stuff, that way it'll be more cost efficient?
Thanks.

i dont think they are the same but i think you can use either , as long as you use the dizzy that matches your wiring.
(i'm not sure about this, i'm just going off the fact that my b18c6 has obd2 wiring + dizzy but plugs into the car loom and runs off a obd1 ecu)

im actually putting a '98 b18b into my 95 gsr as we speak. im using the gsr obd1 wiring harness. obd2 distrib will not match up. i had to use my obd1 distrib. obd2 injectors will not match to the obd1 clips either and vice versa. right now i dont know what to do with my EVAP solenoid..as there is no place on the back of the obd2 intake mani's for one of the vacuum hoses that runs off it. also if u retain the obd1 gsr harness there will be a couple sensors u dont need. its kind of a PITA. if u can use the obd2 engine harness, use that damn thing. unfortunately i dont have one. im sure i'll run into more stuff as i go along. whoo.
don't know if it's the same, but i used a obd2 harness in my 92 civic. it all pluged in fine. i still have the obd2 injectors, dist. ect. but had to use a obd1 ecu, hope that helps

The harness plugs right in, install a OBD1 LS ECU (P75) and call it a day.

You could have used the OBD2 LS engine harness, and a OBD1 ECU, and it would have worked fine.
And I'm sorry to say, someone took your $$$ and laughed all the way to the bank.

im obviously not doing the easiest thing by using the obd1 harness but i didn't have access to an obd2 harness. i can't just pull one out of my ***. im using a mix match of parts. thats why it's called hybriding - you use what you have, and those of us that have brains figure problems like this out.

So you went out and got OBD1 injectors, an OBD1 dist, and such?
Or did you cut and hack all the wiring?
Sorry, but "HYBRIDING" is the fine art of installing a motor that doesn't belong.
What you did is "Monkey Rigging" - The fine are of making something fit that doesnt' belong.
Like a square block in a triangle hole.

Thanks for the info guys, I didn't intend for conflicts in opinion. Well, thanks for the info and let's all get along.
