Ok so I finally bought a Del Sol and the hood doesn't latch properly. The hook on the hood hits the circled part of the latch on the body. I've tried moving it with a screw driver but it won't budge enough to move out of the way. Any ideas? Does the picture look the way it should? I don't think so... Any help is appreciated.

 

Ok so after doing more research, I tried pulling the hood latch cable (which is loose btw) and I was able to move the center latch to the left so I can close it. However, it won't stay to the left for me to close and lock the hood in place, it just falls back down to the center right. Do I need to tighten the latch cable? Or grease up the center latch? I'll have to wait a little bit for further tankering, it's pooring like a biotch right now.

 

Sounds like it needs to be replaced.

 

So I was able to latch the hood, but only by holding the latch open with one hand, and closing the hood with the other. The center latch won't stay in the upright position, for the hood's hook to latch into. Any thoughts on how to fix this? Thanks.

 

Replace the latch. Once they start acting like that there's not a whole lot you can do with them.

 

New idea. I want to get a CF hood with hood pins. Can I just take out the hood latch and primarily use the hood pins?

 

Hood pins are supposed to be a supplemental retention device but the car I have came with hood pins and no latch and has held up just fine. I'm actually needing the hook part that engages the latch.
