Default Just installed rear strut bar....can definitely feel it

Hey everyone. I've heard many opinions on the performance of a rear strut bar on our cars and I just wanted to share my experience. After installing it I took it for a test drive and to me it was very noticable in performance. I could feel the extra rigidity of the body just turning out of my driveway. The car bounces a little stiffer now on bumps; the only thing that I seemed strange was that my steering response seemed to have worsen. I could be imagining it, i dunno. IMO, the our cars come naturally with understeer...so the front strut from the factory neutralizes the handling a bit...but when we add a rear strut bar it stiffens up the rear end, which somewhat cancels out the front...resulting in more understeer coming back. I dunno...just my opinion; but's the car is definitely more rigid now.

How would making the rear of the car ever increase understeer?

I don't think stiffening the rear increases understeer; the stiffening of the rear, relative to the stiffness of the front causes the front to feel less rigid. just my opinion.

Well as far as stiffness goes the front of the car and the rear of the car are irrelevant if they're not tied together with a cage.

So what is your opinion of the car's handling characteristic now? Does it understeer, oversteer, or is it neutral?

EDIT: Is your suspension stock? If not what is your suspension setup (w/spring rates) and what alignment does your car have?

take the bar back off and see how if feels without one.

EDIT: to see if it really does feel different or not.

Thanks for that point about front and rear being tied together.
Handling seems neutral still...but rear end seems a bit tight and wants to come out. Skunk2 coilovers with tokicos....suspension settings stock.

tried that....rear definitely flexes more but seems like you can throw the car around more. Not sure guys....it's all butt dyno, ya know. Just giving you guys what I feel from my setup.

You have stock alignment settings?

What spring rates do you have?

It is difficult to pinpoint the effect of one variable when you have more than one variable.
