Default NeedHelp-distributer wiring 98 civic lx

Hi, My girls car distributor went out in the middle of the highway not too long ago. I'm trying to swap it out with a 98 civic EX distributor my brother had laying around. The problem is that the Donor Distributor is vtec while the car it's going in isn't, so the wire harness clips are different. Both cars are automatic.

I matched up all the wires that matched colors but then it gets confusing. The Vtec harness clip has a total of 8 wires and the non-Vtec has 9. So I'm left with 2 wires(Solid Blue Copper colored wires and light blue with yellow strip) from the non-vtec clip which is being wired to the Vtec distributor that don't match. And 1 solid grey wire from the distributor being installed(Vtec) THANKS for any help, I've tried the search function but I've had no luck. sorry
Here is a picture of the wires that dont match. On the left is the non vtec clip and right is the vtec distributer

Here is a pic of the different clips, the skinnier one being the vtec and the bigger being the non vtec

The difference is the obd1 and obd2.

look at the pictures

p.s do not color match, it will not work like that.

Even if their both 1998 automatics? Thanks!

It doesn't explain the solid Grey wire from the dizzy though. I get the dark blue wire is obsolete. It also says that black and yellow stripe isn't used but it doesn't make sense since both clip and dizzy have a black with yellow stripe wire. I think that diagram is for 5speed and not auto?

it might be easier to put the plug back on the original distributor and swap the coils. Save yourself some time.

Color matching is definitely the wrong way to go. Matching pin for pin is the right way, if you're swapping connectors of course. Check out the link in my signature for a pin by pin comparison, if you decide to stick with the connector swapping route. mphirephox's suggestion is a better idea, however.
