Default History of 01-0624? I have electrical problems!

Anyone on here that used to be the original owner or the owner who started having troubles with electrical issues on 01-0624?

I bought the car last november and it runs and looks great...but there are a few electrical issues with it. The car seems like it was in a mild front end accident and there was an airbag deployment.

Here are the issues:

-Parking lights only work when headlights are on. The 1st click on the light stalk does nothing. No dash lights, no parking lights...unless I click it to the 2nd click and the headlights turn on also.

-Wipers do not work on 1st setting (intermittent). SOMETIMES the wipers will come on in the intermittent setting if I just turn the car on and turn the headlights on also. Work for a few seconds and then turn back off.

-Dome light does not work with the doors ...or at all. Door chime also does not work.

-Seatbelt chime does not work. Works SOMETIMES just like the wipers do. Just as I turn the car on and turn the lights on. Works for a few seconds and goes back off.

-Rear defroster does not work.

-Antenna does not go up/down...I can hear a click back there, but no hum from the motor.

-Sometimes, dash lights won't come on at all...unless I tap on the top of the gauge cluster hood.

I've checked fuses. So no. It's not fuses. There is an alarm in the car that's a pretty nice unit...but the install looks SOOOO TERRIBLE!! So I'm guessing this has a lot to do with everything...but...I'll have to figure that out later.

I'm gonna have to rip apart the stupid dash and figure out WTF is going on...but I was hoping maybe someone could maybe shed some light as to when these issues started to happen? The previous owner seemed to think everything was fine. Maybe he just didn't notice the issues? Or...??

The car has had a few owners. Wondering if one of them is on here and can help a brotha out.

Does anyone have a decent wiring diagram for the car? The hayne's manual wiring diagram is for suckers.

you can google for the factory fsm there is a few free ones to download. as for the wiring i would rip everything out and redo it neatly bad wiring can cause car fires.

door indicator switch could be reason for no chime and dome light not working, the steering switches may be damaged for the light switch and wiper switch.

The problem with the damaged switch idea is that they work intermittently along with the door chime and everything else. Seems like ALL that stuff works....just very intermittently.

I think there's some short or something somewhere. Or that there's a missing ground. The hayne's manual says that a lot of the circuits ground out to "J/C". Which I assume means junction connector...but the question is which junction connector? And where the F are they located? I hate that manual.

I would poke around underneath the fusebox... maybe your car was victimized by the wire-tucking fad.

Yeah, I'm installing a head unit today. So I'll check around. The other thing that makes me think its a missing ground(s) is that turning on the headlights makes for a lot of radio static.

If you google "integra service manual," the first result is legit. Got mine from there. You have to make an account though.

The parking light/headlight thing could be the switch, or it could be someone wired the parking lights to the headlight power wire by mistake. Time to bust out the multimeter.

Yeah. I have a day off tomorrow. So I think I'm gonna have to rip apart the dash, get my mutli meter, re-wire the alarm, and put in my new radio lol.

I have no idea how someone wires an alarm that badly. I wired my first ever alarm in the middle of january in my garage on my GS-R. Everything worked just fine. The wires were hidden. It looked neat. The brain was secured to the inside of the dash.

This car's alarm....looks like....a rat's nest. None of the wires were even trimmed to make the lengths make sense. There's like 6ft of wire bunched up and jammed under the dash. Ready to fall all over your feet as you're driving. The brain is just flopping around behind the dash. The wires that lead to the siren are like 20ft too long. Guess what the solution to that is? Bunch up. Jam into engine compartment. The holes drilled into the firewall to run wiring (why would you drill holes?!! WTF?!!) are too big and the attempt to re-seal them with silicone failed.

There were open wires that I found also. Ugh. Sounds like the sickest day off ever.

So since I'm a proponent of posting your fix after the problem is solved, I will say that some of the issues have been discovered:

-Looks like a bad ICU as far as the windshield wipers, door chime, defroster, and warning chime go.

-There were no bulbs in the cluster for CEL (i knew this already...previous owner's "CEL FIX") or the door open indicator. So I put in some bulbs. Those work beautifully.

-The dash lights were wired (via quick splice connector) to the headlights directly. The parking light wire shows no power when the switch is turned. So I'm guessing bad switch there. When jumpered to power, the parking lights and dash lights work great.

I'm going to the junkyard now for a new ICU, Combination switch unit, and a new defogger switch just in case.

The alarm wiring is a nightmarish proposition. But I will have this figured out hopefully today when I get back from the junkyard.

I'm also aiming to install my new head unit.

That will solve all the issues with the car!

The nice thing about fixing wiring is that you don't get all dirty and beat up. The bad thing is pausing work to do research, get colors, voltage specs, and all the cuts on you hands from the EXTREMELY sharp interior parts. Plus you have to crawl under the dash...that's the worst.

Oh well. Homie don't play driving a car with weird problems.
