Default HELP: '88 CRX won't start, (runs on starter fluid)

Okay a while back I bought my son a CRX. It needed a battery and when I brought one to the car some douche nozzle had tried to steal it, breaking off a key in the ignition (prompting me to join the forum and ask questions). I've got a new switch and tried to start the car. Actually I'm just using a screw driver until I get the car home for full repairs, but I got the old switch off and I'm ready to put the new one back on.

It cranks but won't catch even a little. If you spray starter fluid into the intake it will run so it isn't spark, or timing.

I've just done some searches here and pulls up the possibility of fuel pump. (Oh yeah I did pour two gallons into it just to make sure, and it reads about 1/4 now).

I'm not hearing diddly crap when I turn the key in terms of a pump running or any clicking. Here's other stuff:

The CEL is on.
I looked to see if there is a fuse for the fuel pump but didn't see it listed in either of the two fuse box locations I found.

Can someone tell me where the main relay is so I can swap one (if it comes to that?).

How do I read codes in this car?

Sorry for the news questions. I've got plenty of wrench time, just not on this car.

I had the same problem with my ef only starting on starter fluid. I just filled the car completley up with high octain gas not gas station kind and then sprayed a lot of starter fluid in the intake since then I've no problems at all it fires up instantly with regular gas too. Maybe that can help

Tony nailed it. Put in a new main relay (warning: local parts store sells the wrong one) and it fired right up.
Damn thing runs like a Swiss watch.

Onward. Thanks.
