Default Car not smooth after paintjob

just picked up my car from a friend's painter and not happy. overall the car feels rough and bumpy, not smooth like it should be. he should get back to me soon but i was researching and is this an easy fix with the base/clear coats already applied?

they can still wet sand it, buff it, and polish it right? IYO how long of a process would that take, a day??

dry spray can be cut and buffed sometimes depends on how much clear was applied.

how much did he charge you ? pic's would be helpful.

seems you may have a lot of orange peal or it was sprayed real dry, but either way, it can be fixed. If it was sprayed too dry, I'd wet sand and reclear the whole car, but if there's just too much orange peal, it can be wet sanded and buffed. If you have pics, that'd help

A couple years ago i painted my car an the same thing happened to me. I wet sanded and buffed it out. It was my first time doing either and wet sanding the whole car took 7 hours... a couple hours to buff out and polish. It took a long time but it'll get smooth man, no worries.

first off, i paid 1100 total including shaved side moldings and front/back emblems.

do you remember what grit you used? i'm guessing 2000+?

yeah i got things straightened out, will get it buffed out by the shop i took it to but definitely wouldnt recommend them to anyone else after this inconvenience. it's actually not too rough but just isn't smooth and slick like it should be.

This could be part of your problem. Was it a full color change or just a re spray of a factory color? Either way that's very cheap.
I paid 2,500 and that was getting a deal because I know the painter personally.

hell yeah. Thats a deal for doing that annoying unneeded bullshit. I do body and paint work for myself from time to time and i personally would never shave anything on my vehicles because of the amount of time and bullshit involved.

Unless he used one stage( which is not the case) you would need to cut and buff with glaze to take inpurities from the top coat of clear. Also a block when sanding the paint helps eliminate some of the wavyness on some of the low spots left on the top coat of clear.
