Icon5 91 ef hatchback rear disc conversion

i found a crx with rear discs & i noticed the rear brakepad as about as small as the one on my huffy what else can i use to do this swap. or to atleast upgrade the brakes/

im sittin on gsr f-fives, so whatever that tells you bout the clearance i have..

uhmm, i know i need the trailing arm ( big one in front of the wheel., the hub spindle, ect. do i need the lower control arm??, or whatever that thing is that bolts from the bottom of the brakes to the rear underside of the (trunk area) body.

also what ebrake cable do i need? can u use the one out of the crx that im gettin the rear disc from or do i have to get one from a coupe teggy or civic si (SORRY I KNO THIS HAS BEEN ASKED) &&& most importantly do i need new brake lines or the ebrake cable for the rears to work?

I alreaDY KNOW I SHOULD GET A PROP VALBE, bb & mc, FROM A 90-93 INTEGRA NON GSR??? IS THIS CORRECT?

IM LOOKING FOR A 3540 BUT ILL SETTLE FOR A 4040
...sorry caps...
the MC&BB should come together right?? off the 90-93 integra nongsr OR 91 ex civic? not so sure about thisss...

so basicly i found the rear disc off a crs the guy said he will sell the trailing arms and out (spindle hub rotor, ect.) NO BRAKE CABLES HOWEVER! for $150.

is this a decent deal"? can i put better rotors n pads cuz the ones on there are patheticly small. & do i need any other parts, for exapmle lines or the MC,BB & PROP VALVE... Do i need these? can i get one over the other. or better combos. preferablty THE BEST COMBO.

a lil help would be...a help

i kno all this has been asked. **** i even made another thread about this but for some reason the search funtion is not working for me. i think it has something to do with the pc im on it never allows me to search wile at homne i can just fine... sorry just trying to get a lil info asap so ii can preorder and pick them up tomorrow...

thank you

and

https://honda-tech.com/forums/honda-crx-ef-civic-1988-1991-3/rear-disk-brake-conversion-w-pics-1916212/

in a nutshell, you need the proportioning valve from the CRX SI to run the rear discs, and the e brake cable from the CRX SI as well.

I wouldn't worry so much about how big the back brakes are.. they only do like 20% of the stopping. The front brakes take most of the load, and they are good enough until you are making significantly more hp or do a lot of longer road racing.

yet the question of DO I NEED NEW LINES WITH THE SWAP? are still unanswered.

people reccomend to get new ones. but i want to see if it is mandatory. can i just bolt up the new discs and plug in the existing brake line? or must i remove and get new ones.

from 90-93DA or 90-91 crx si or ex civic coupe.

i dont give a crap about an ebrake cable. ill do that eventually. i just want to install the brakes.

but really thinking about it. those tini *** rotors dont look like they are gonna stop ****.
can someone point me to a real brake updrade that works with 15 inch wheels?

They will work fine...I time trial on regular rear pads, running hard with a LS-Vtec swap for 20 minutes and have no problems. If you really want some kind of upgrade buy some good pads if you can find them.

Don't know about the rear brake lines...My rear swap is actually from a DA and did need different rear lines (the disks and pads are the same as the 91 CRX si)

here's some info on the differences

You will need Brake lines from a Teg or CRX Si "W discs". Drum lines are to short

Brake line cables are from Teg, CRX are to short

ive also heard the year of the crx matters. im not sur eon the year or if it was an SI i kno it has the rear glass so im assuming its 88-91 will any rear brakes off those year crx's work?

also which brake lines can i use. cuz the guy said use teggy brakelines then 2 lines down he haid dont use teggy brake lines

so is this correct 90-93 integra NON GRS coupe brakelines? and ebrake caBLE?\\

OR SHOULD I JUST GET NEW LINES FROM NAPA OR SOMETHING???

what should i tell them i am putting the brakes on my 91 ef hatch

so i tell them i need crx si brake lines with rear disc???

cuz the ebrake cable im not to worried about.

also does anyone kno which prov vaVLE CAME ON MY CAR?
AND QWHERE TO GET THE BB MC AND PROV VALVE FROM IF I CANNOT FIND A TEGGY??

ARE MY YEARS FOR PARTS CORRECT?

QUOTE]

Yes. I am pretty sure 88 CRX Si's had drum BTW, so 89-90-91 CRX Si will be fine.

BTW, you dont NEED to change the prop valve, I just had this done last week and I am using the Civic DX prop valve and car brakes fine, the peddle sits a little lower though. Changing the prop valve is a upgrade, CRX Si or Gen 2 Teg Prop valves will be your best bet.

My setup

Gen 2 Teg Trailing arms
Gen 2 Teg E brake cables
90-91 CRX Si Brake lines
DX Civic prop valve

Works fine.

Only 90-91 CRX Si's had rear disks brakes, not 89.

brakelines bolt up, iam actually working on my swap and iam piecing everything together lil by lil. As far as brake lines you should get new ones for safety concerns, if u cant afford steel braded , get oem rubber ones. As far as what to use , you just need the rear trailing arms from the integra(the rear disc part) , not the lower control arms , keep your stock ones. al

& when removing the ebrake cable do i have to drop the exhaust and remove the heat shields?

u can search for a write up , ive seen a detailed write up and the poster actually color codes what to unbolt and everything. Also when remving E brake cable you do not need to to drop exhaust at all. Look for the write up

i looked at the write up in question but there is like 5 pages of debated nonsense on the page as-well. i already removed the RTA's with the disc brakes now its just time to remove my drums & install the new stuff.

can i use a 92 JDM integra front spindles or hubs. what (if anything) can i use from the f92 jdm teggy front brake setup? on my 91 ef hatch ?
