Default 1999 accord auto trans hard shift

i have... well wife has a 1999 Honda accord that shifts hard from 1-2 p-r and p-1, only when its cold and there is a 2 to 3 second delay in the shift and usually when it shifts after the delay it violently slams into gear. i bought the car with 99,999 miles on it and it had these symptoms. i figured id run it till it died and toss a new trans at it. well there is now 200,000 miles on this thing and it is just the same. I think that it might be something as simple as a shift solenoid.. the trans fluid has been flushed with the Honda fluid and is at the correct level. i read a post that was a few year old and the car had these same adsact problems and well after three transmissions and lots of hair pulling it ended up being a solenoid that they reused, but he didn't know which one his mechanic replaced:( anyone have any idea which solenoid would cause this? or if not a solenoid what would cause this?

You can test the solenoid's on the car, unplug them and apply 12v to them if the click they are fine if not replace. I read the other day here on H-T that both solenoids are the same, not sure.

well, they work fine when its warm so will pulling them and testing them show any results? it works great when warm though. a worn solenoid could seal up when warmed up couldn't it? therefor it will actuate but still not work correctly until it has warmed up. i would just replace them all but one is like 200 bucks

The shift solenoids have filters ,or screens to be precise. You have to take them apart. If one is partially clogged it may cause a delay in shift.

Scroll down to the solenoids.

I'm I'm having the same problem with the same car. I put it on a scanner and it's showing a fault code for the second clutch pressure sensor switch. I'm going to replace that switch and the solenoid just for the hell of it and see if it works.
