I'm new to welding I'm buying a tig machine soon. I want to get some good tools like grinders and sanders. So i was wondering what was everyone useing. I'm looking for a decent but not to expensive disc / belt sander. And whats everyone useing for a grinders. Any advise on tools to get for both prep work and cleaning up welds would be great.

I use a jet belt and disc sander, 6"x48". Works wonderful. I did use to use a dake 3"x68 I think was the belt size. Nothing but problems. Only thing I miss about it was its 3hp motor

i got a jet belt and disc too and i like it. for grinders i use dewalt 10 amp i got two of them and i love them.

 

6x48 is the only way to go for a belt sander, anything else just wears out too fast.

 

I'm new to welding and this will be for home use only. Does anyone else reccomend something cheaper. It would be used everydays like a shop would it will be used in the process of helping me learn/ and for my project cars when i learn

 

+1. We are still using the same Jet 1.5HP 6x48 belt sander I bought almost 8 years ago now. Used daily and we beat the hell out of it. Only thing we've done is replace the on/off switch about once every other year.
