Default fog light question

Im looking for a set of fog lights that will sit in the bumper of my 89 crx si with minimal cutting of my bumper. Ive read that the fogs from a 96-98 civic will fit pretty well in the bumper. Im wondering if anyone has tried this and if so how flush do they sit without having to hack away any of the bumper. Any input will be greatly appreciated.

By "in the bumper" do you mean in the grill? Why not just go oem?

Yea toward the end of the grill. I've searched, but cant really seem to find any oem fog lights for a 89 civic. I dont want to have to hack my bumper under the turn signal markers to fit fogs, but i noticed there are cut outs in the grill where 96-98 civic fogs would be so i was wondering on the fitment of them.

you still have to cut out the inside of the grill. so unless you use really tiny, rectangular lights, youre going to need to do some cutting.

there are just outlines on the inside of the bumper to show where to cut to fit the OEM foglights. you still need the proper brackets or rig up your own to hold the lights in place.

Good luck finding OEM foglights. I located a set about 6 years ago for my 91, but the idiot who shipped them to me didn't package them well and one of them broke.

This was not a popular OEM accessory at all from 88-91, so there are very few sets out there.

89 Prelude Si fogs do just fine on my 89 hatch. I even used the Prelude bracket and customized it to work.

My 2 cents the Preludes are MUCH better quality also. Had both in my hand, Civic's seemed a little cheap compared to Prelude

Anyone know where to get the little rubber trim piece to go around the edge u cut out?

And what about mounting them? If i got a set of fogs, is there any bracket that will be close fitmet to the oem one?

I just used a vac line and slit it down one side, form it around the edge and glue it into place. looked just fine.
